Identification of Genes Involved in Resistance to Flavescence Dorée Disease of Grapevine: A Model Study Using Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Arabidopsis thaliana genes conferring resistance to flavescence dorée (FD) phytoplasma were identified, revealing vector‐independent defence mechanisms and providing potential targets for breeding FD‐resistant grapevine. ABSTRACT Flavescence dorée (FD), caused by FD phytoplasma (FDp) and transmitted by the leafhopper Scaphoideus titanus, is a ...

Sexual Reproduction of Plasmopara viticola in Wine Regions of Southern Brazil, Climatic Suitability, Oospore Formation and Germination

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
This is the first study to confirm Plasmopara viticola oospore formation in all major wine‐growing regions of southern Brazil and oospore germination under local conditions on susceptible and resistant hosts, and to apply ecological niche modelling to predict climatic suitability for oospore formation.

Strengthening Predictive Models for Wheat Stem Rust Infection Risk in a Changing Climate: Gaps and Opportunities

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Here we review environmental data underpinning epidemiological models for wheat stem rust, highlighting gaps that, once addressed, would significantly enhance the predictive power of these tools. ABSTRACT Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici (Pgt) is a major global fungal pathogen that causes stem rust of wheat (Triticum spp.) (the primary and principal ...

Applications of Ozonated Water for Effectively Controlling Grape Powdery Mildew in Vineyards and Enhancing Berry Metabolites

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Ozonated water effectively controls grape powdery mildew with 85%–100% efficacy and inhibits Erysiphe necator spore germination by up to 97%. Preventive ozonated water treatments enhance polyphenolic metabolite accumulation—treated berries show higher levels of stilbenes and flavonoids.
