Long‐Term Corrosion of Carbon‐Steel Casing Used in Deep Geological Radioactive Waste Repository

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Fifty mots 6‐year study of carbon steel corrosion in a deep geological repository (Bure, France). Three corrosion patterns were identified, driven by local conditions. Minimal corrosion layer thickness growth suggests limited corrosion progression under most conditions.

Evaluation of food safety in the handling of home enteral nutrition based on a new contamination risk classification: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Home enteral nutrition (HEN) offers clinical benefits and is increasingly used, although handling‐related health risks remain unclear. This study assessed food safety in HEN using a new contamination risk classification. Methods First, the inter‐rater reliability of the Food Safety for Handling HEN checklist was analyzed in 25 ...

Evaluating the Impact of the 2021 Plastic Carrier Bag Charge Increase in England:Evidence from a Synthetic DiD Approach

open access: yes
This study examines whether the 2021 increase in England’s single-use plastic carrier bag charge, from 5 pence to 10 pence, generated an additional reduction in plastic bag consumption. While previous research shows that the initial introduction of plastic bag levies can produce substantial behavioral change, less is known about the effect of ...

Microbiological safety in the reuse of materials in home enteral nutrition: A quantitative in vitro experimental study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction In home enteral nutrition (HEN), the reuse of packaging and administration materials beyond the recommended period, combined with inadequate hygiene practice, increase the risk of microbiological contamination. This study assessed the risk through a simulation that reproduced real‐world usage conditions and hygiene practices ...

A structured multidisciplinary home parenteral nutrition program in a public healthcare system: Implementation model, nursing‐led training protocol, and 11‐year safety outcomes

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Home parenteral nutrition (HPN) is the standard of care for adults with chronic intestinal failure (CIF), but evidence from publicly funded healthcare systems in middle‐income countries is limited. This study describes an 11‐year experience of a structured, nursing‐led HPN program within Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS ...

Decoupling Formulation and Processing Effects in Thermoplastic Starch Through a Data‐Driven Structure–Property Framework

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Processing‐property relationships in thermoplastic starch (TPS): plasticizer type, starch source and melt‐processing temperature establish a hierarchy of effects that governs process‐induced changes and the resulting TPS properties. ABSTRACT Thermoplastic starch (TPS) is a melt‐processable biopolymer whose properties depend strongly on formulation and ...
