A Focal Zone of Thalamic Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Neuroscience, 1998
In this study, sensory maps in the thalamus were investigated by examining their volume and shape. We determined the forelimb representation in adult rats after the removal of hindlimb input by nucleus gracilis lesions. Three-dimensional reconstructions of thalamic sensory maps were obtained from a grid of electrode penetrations.

Synaptic Vesicle Proteins and Active Zone Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Synaptic Neuroscience, 2016
Neurotransmitter is released from synaptic vesicles at the highly specialized presynaptic active zone (AZ). The complex molecular architecture of AZs mediates the speed, precision and plasticity of synaptic transmission. Importantly, structural and functional properties of AZs vary significantly, even for a given connection.

Optimization of the Plastic Area of a Borehole Based on the Gas Extraction Effect and Its Engineering Application

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
Gas extraction is most commonly used to control gas disasters in coal mines. The distribution of the plastic zone around a borehole and the sealing quality are key factors affecting gas extraction. In this paper, the plastic zone was simulated by COMSOL,

Lubrication in cold rolling: Elasto-plasto-hydrodynamic lubrication [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A model has been developed with respect to hydrodynamic lubrication in cold rolling. The basic model describes the configuration of a rigid, perfectly plastic sheet rolled by a rigid work roll.

Rapid Active Zone Remodeling during Synaptic Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Neuroscience, 2011
How can synapses change the amount of neurotransmitter released during synaptic plasticity? Although release in general is intensely investigated, its determinants during plasticity are still poorly understood. As a model for plastic strengthening of synaptic release, we here use the well-established presynaptic homeostatic compensation during ...

Roof stability evaluation of large section open-off cut in lower slice of slicing mining

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2022
In order to study the roof stability of large-section open-off cut in lower slice of slicing mining, the 14 boreholes in the top coal of the 203 open-off cut in the lower slice of 1−2 coal seam in Huojitu Mine of Daliuta Mine is taken as the research ...

Determination of micro-scale plastic strain caused by orthogonal cutting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
An electron beam lithography technique has been used to produce microgrids in order to measure local plastic strains, induced during an orthogonal cutting process, at the microscopic scale in the shear zone and under the machined surface. Microgrids with

Descriptions of reversed yielding in bending [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Existence of Bauschinger effect in bending-unbending of copper beams has been shown from experiment. In modelling of the Bauschinger effect, it is shown that a significant second plastic penetration can occur with the release of the moment required for ...

Relationship between plastic zone of roadway and coal and gas outburst hole

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2022
The outburst hole is of great significance to study the mechanism of coal and gas outburst. Through numerical simulation, the plastic zone of coal body at the excavation head of outburst roadway is obtained and compared with the actual outburst holes ...

Slow crack growth in polycarbonate films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We study experimentally the slow growth of a single crack in polycarbonate films submitted to uniaxial and constant imposed stress. The specificity of fracture in polycarbonate films is the appearance of flame shaped macroscopic process zones at the tips
