A Review Paper on Plasticulture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Research in Engineering & Management, 2022
In the previous decade, plastics have achieved tremendous advances in horticulture. Because of its structural integrity, chemical properties, and versatility, plastic has become a prominent material in our everyday lives. Drip irrigation, plastic mulches, packaging and storage for better product quality, and post-harvest management are just a few of ...

Weed Management in Plasticulture [PDF]

open access: yesHortTechnology, 1996
This review describes the differences in weed management that must be addressed when plastic culture is added to the production cycle. Three specific areas are addressed: weed management under plastic mulch, weed management between plastic mulch, and weed management under row covers.

PLASTICULTURE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN QUEBEC REGION [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1994
In Québec the intensive use of plastic films in field production of vegetables and fruit is evident by increased acreage for this sector of agriculture since 1985. This technique is used particularly for sweet corn, cucurbitaceae and solanaceae, and strawberry production.

Plasticulture banana pepper response to clomazone applied pretransplanting

open access: yesWeed Technology, 2023
AbstractFew published studies exist documenting banana pepper tolerance to clomazone. Therefore, field trials were conducted in 2022 at two Indiana locations [Meigs Horticulture Research Farm and the Pinney Purdue Agricultural Center (PPAC)] to evaluate crop safety in plasticulture-grown banana pepper.

INTRODUCTION OF A PLASTICULTURE SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1992
We instituted a series of on-farm trials to introduce vegetable growers to plasticulture systems. Initial trials were large areas where all combinations of plastic mulch, soil fumigation with methyl bromide, and drip irrigation were compared. As the system developed 0.4 Ha trials were instituted to show system potentials.

Use of Plasticulture for Strawberry Plant Production [PDF]

open access: yesSmall Fruits Review, 2005
Abstract Strawberries are cultivated either in open fields or in greenhouses. Many types of polyethylene films (plastics) are utilized in heating, water conservation, and plant protection, which all affect plant and fruit development. Different types of plastics are also used during field cultivation for overhead covering and protection.
