Interpretable Sparse Proximate Factors for Large Dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
This paper proposes sparse and easy-to-interpret proximate factors to approximate statistical latent factors. Latent factors in a large-dimensional factor model can be estimated by principal component analysis (PCA), but are usually hard to interpret.

Factor Investing with a Deep Multi-Factor Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Modeling and characterizing multiple factors is perhaps the most important step in achieving excess returns over market benchmarks. Both academia and industry are striving to find new factors that have good explanatory power for future stock returns and good stability of their predictive power.

High expression of beta-adrenergic receptor kinase in human peripheral blood leukocytes. Isoproterenol and platelet activating factor can induce kinase translocation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Receptor phosphorylation is a key step in the process of desensitization of the beta-adrenergic and other related receptors. A selective kinase (called beta-adrenergic receptor kinase, beta ARK) has been identified which phosphorylates the agonist ...

Platelet-Activating Factor and Pain

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2011
Platelet-activating factor (PAF) is a phospholipid mediator that regulates the functions of a variety of cells in the peripheral tissues and in the nervous system. Findings that injection of PAF exogenously at the skin or in the spinal cord induced pain hypersensitivity gave us much attention to its role in pain signaling. Studies using pharmacological

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Caused by Damaged Mitochondria and Imbalanced Protein Homeostasis in Alveolar Epithelial Type II Cell

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
By systematizing a large body of evidence and propose a cascade relationship between protein homeostasis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and pro‐fibrotic factor, providing a theoretical basis for ATII cells dysfunction as a possible pathophysiological initiating event for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Generation of Advanced Blood–Brain Barrier Spheroids Using Human‐Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Brain Capillary Endothelial‐Like Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
In this article, the establishment and characterization of a self‐assembled 3D BBB spheroid model using human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)‐derived and primary cells is reported. Spheroids demonstrate in‐vivo like tight junction ultrastructure and, in comparison to 2D mono‐cultures, higher transcript expression of BBB specific genes.

Revealing the γ′ and γ″ Phase Fractions of Additively Manufactured and Differently Heat‐Treated Nickel‐Base Superalloy IN718 by Atom Probe Tomography and Their Impact on Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing is a promising route for the production of Ni‐base superalloys for turbine applications, such as Inconel 718. Nonetheless, it induces various changes in the microstructure and performance of these materials. One such change is the incidence of the δ‐Ni3Nb phase, whose impact on microstructure, aging precipitate fractions, and ...
