Platelet antibodies in transfused patients
Transfusion Medicine, 2000P atients and M ethods We studied sera of 252 patients with haematological or oncological diseases, who received multiple transfusions of rbc and/or platelet concentrates. The aim of our study was to analyse the specificity of platelet reactive antibodies (platelet specific and HLA‐antibodies) in a large series of transfused patients.

Monoclonal Antibodies Against Platelet Glycoproteins
Transfusion Medicine Reviews, 1993LATELETS play a pivotal role in hemostasis. They participate in the formation of the he mostatic plug at sites of spontaneous and traumatic damage to the vessel wall, and then release internal components that recruit other platelets to bind to the growing platelet plug.

Cytomegalovirus antibody assay by platelet aggregation
Archiv fr die gesamte Virusforschung, 1970The platelet aggregation (PA) and complement fixation (CF) tests were compared as assays for cytomegalovirus antibodies. Sera from normal blood donors and from patients with various infectious diseases, with cytomegalovirus mono-nucleosis and after open-heart surgery were studied.

[Anti-platelet antibody and platelet function].
Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 1992The effect of anti-platelet antibodies, including murine monoclonal antibodies, autoantibodies and alloantibodies, on platelet function was analyzed. The target antigen of these antiplatelet antibodies, investigated in the present study, was a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa, which is a receptor of fibrinogen and plays an important role in platelet aggregation ...

Platelet antigens and antiplatelet antibodies
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2000Transfusion of allogenic platelets (TAP) is a potent therapeutic method for patients with impaired bone marrow platelet-producing function caused by endogenous depression ofhemopoiesis or exogenous factors, such as radiation or cytostatic therapy. Transplantation of allogenic bone marrow from close relatives is impossible without TAP.

Platelet Transfusion in Patients with Platelet ISO-Antibodies
1969Platelet transfusion has become a routine therapy for thrombocytopenic patients in many hospitals. In every blood bank or hospital where a sufficient number of donors can be bled, platelet concentrates can be prepared easily and the otherwise unaffected units of blood can be transfused to other patients.

Platelet Antibodies In Mental Disorder
1997Platelets are a model for monoamine containing neurons in the CNS (Sneddon, 1973; Pletcher etal., 1984). Serotonin and dopamine uptake mechanisms are well established in this model (Lingjaerde, 1977; Gordon and Overman, 1978; Omenn and Smith, 1978; Lingjaerde and Kildemo, 1981).

Platelet antibody: Review of detection methods
American Journal of Hematology, 1988AbstractThe driving force behind development of in vitro methods for platelet antibodies is identification of plasma factors causing platelet destruction. Early methods relied on measurement of platelet activation. Current methods are more specific and use a purified antibody against immunoglobulin or complement, which is usually labeled with 125I or ...
