Dual-wavelength thulium fluoride fiber laser based on SMF-TMSIF-SMF interferometer as potential source for microwave generationin 100-GHz region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A dual-wavelength thulium-doped fluoride fiber (TDFF) laser is presented. The generation of the TDFF laser is achieved with the incorporation of a single modemultimode- single mode (SMS) interferometer in the laser cavity.

Neurosurgical bleeding in platelet storage pool disorder: a case report

open access: yesPlatelets
Dense-granule deficiency (DGD) is an inherited platelet disorder due to the absence of dense granules essential for activation of platelets in the event of vascular injury.

Mean platelet volume in anxiety disorder: a case-control study

open access: yesOpen Journal of Psychiatry and Allied Sciences, 2019
Background: Anxiety disorders are one of the most common psychiatric disorders existing in the population. The association between stress and platelet activity has been envisaged by the researchers.

Three-dimensional Multiscale Model of Deformable Platelets Adhesion to Vessel Wall in Blood Flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When a blood vessel ruptures or gets inflamed, the human body responds by rapidly forming a clot to restrict the loss of blood. Platelets aggregation at the injury site of the blood vessel occurring via platelet-platelet adhesion, tethering and rolling on the injured endothelium is a critical initial step in blood clot formation.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Inhibitors in Patients with Congenital Bleeding Disorders Other Than Hemophilia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The most worrying complication of replacement therapy for severe hemophilia A and B is currently the occurrence of inhibitory alloantibodies against infused factor VIII and factor IX, respectively.

Permeability and conductivity of platelet-reinforced membranes and composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present large scale simulations of the diffusion constant $D$ of a random composite consisting of aligned platelets with aspect ratio $a/b>>1$ in a matrix (with diffusion constant $D_0$) and find that $D/D_0 = 1/(1+ c_1 x + c_2 x^2)$, where $x= a v_f/b$ and $v_f$ is the platelet volume fraction.

Dynamic Formation of Preferentially Lattice Oriented, Self Trapped Hydrogen Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
A series of MD and DFT simulations were performed to investigate hydrogen self-clustering and retention in tungsten. Using a newly develop machine learned interatomic potential, spontaneous formation of hydrogen platelets was observed after implanting low-energy hydrogen into tungsten at high fluxes and temperatures.

Clinical Trial Readiness in Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy R1 (LGMDR1): A GRASP Consortium Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying functional measures that are both valid and reliable in the limb girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) population is critical for quantifying the level of functional impairment related to disease progression in order to establish clinical trial readiness in the context of anticipated therapeutic trials.

Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, Moschcowitz Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The authors present a case of a 16-year-old boy, who was referred to the hospital due to thrombocytopenia, anemia, proteinuria and hyperbilirubinemia. Based on the clinical picture and the laboratory data, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) was ...
