Liver Stiffness Rises Early in MASLD and Drives Inflammation, Lipid Dysmetabolism, and Fibrosis via Piezo1–YAP Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Progressive stiffening of the hepatic extracellular matrix and free fatty acid overload activate the mechanosensor Piezo1 in steatotic hepatocytes, inducing calcium influx and nuclear translocation of Yes‐associated protein. YAP‐dependent nuclear signaling further drives inflammatory and fibrotic gene programs, lipid metabolic reprogramming, and ...

Platelet Heparin-Neutralizing Factor (Platelet Factor 4)

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1975
SummaryThe heparin-neutralizing platelet factor (PF4) is released from platelets under the influence of inducers of aggregation and nucleotide-release in the form of a high-molecular weight complex. The heparin-neutralizing activity is carried by a basic protein of molecular weight 29,700, four of which combine with a proteoglycan carrier, which in ...

Subcellular Localization of Platelet Factor 3 and Platelet Factor 4

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1973
The subcellular distribution of platelet factor 3 and 4 (PF‐3 and 4) activity has been determined in sucrose gradient fractions of platelet homogenates. The distribution patterns were influenced by the homogenization technique (blendor or pestle) and the method of calculation (total activity or per mg protein). The bulk PF‐3 activity was present in ...

Interaction of platelet factor 4 with human platelets

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1985
Human washed resting platelets bound 125I-labeled platelet factor 4 in a reaction which was saturable and approached equilibrium within 15-30 min. Scatchard plot analysis of the binding isotherms suggested a single class of specific binding sites. Excess of unlabeled protein and low- and high-affinity heparin competed for platelet factor 4 binding ...

Platelet factor 4 (PF 4) in septicaemia

Infection, 1988
The plasma concentrations of platelet factor 4 were measured in ten patients with septicaemia. In the acute phase the platelet factor 4 values were elevated (27.1 +/- 20.1 ng/ml; mean +/- SD; normal values 4.7 +/- 1.2 ng/ml), and declined significantly after treatment with antibiotics and surgical therapy, respectively (10.6 +/- 7.3 ng/ml; p less than ...

A radioimmunoassay for platelet factor 4

Thrombosis Research, 1976
Abstract A radioimmunoassay for the measurement of human platelet factor 4 is described which is sufficiently sensitive to measure the concentration of this protein in plasma. This assay can detect the release of platelet factor 4 from platelets in vitro .

Platelet factor 4 antigen in megakaryocytes

Thrombosis Research, 1980
The localization of platelet factor 4 (PF4) in the megakaryocyte has been determined by indirect immunofluorescent studies using monospecific rabbit antibody to human PF4. Also, specific staining has demonstrated that platelets in peripheral blood contain PF4 antigen. Absorption studies established that the staining was specific for PF4.

Megakaryocytic Leukemia and Platelet Factor 4

Leukemia & Lymphoma, 1992
The de novo megakaryocytic leukemia fulfilling the FAB criteria is still an uncommonly recognized variant of acute leukemia. Many studies have shown that the megakaryocytic leukemic events may occur at a pluripotent stem cell level and clinical observations reveal that the megakaryocytic leukemias are diverse entities.
