Monitoring aspirin therapy with the Platelet Function Analyzer‐100
Low platelet response to aspirin has been reported to be associated with a high incidence of vascular events. The reported prevalence of aspirin low-responsiveness varies, which may be explained by poor reproducibility of the methods used to evaluate aspirin response and low compliance.

Using the Platelet Function Analyzer-100 for monitoring aspirin therapy
The aim of the study was to evaluate the test characteristics of the Platelet Function Analyzer-100 (PFA-100) in patients treated with aspirin. The study consisted of two sub-studies. In study 1, 10 patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and 10 controls had platelet function assessed by optical platelet aggregation and the PFA-100 method in two 5 ...

Platelet aggregation, thromboxane A2 production and platelet annexin V binding are in vitro tests used to assess platelet function. This study was done to evaluate the clot signature analyzer (CSA), platelet function analyzer (PFA), and thromboelastogram (TE) as in vitro tests to predict the template bleeding time (BT).Twelve normal volunteers were ...

Platelet function analyzer (PFA-100): A tool to quantify congenital or acquired platelet dysfunction
Translational Research, 2001PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST SYSTEM The instrument aspirates a blood sample under constant vacuum from the sample reservoir through a capillary and a microscopic aperture (147 μm) cut into the membrane. The membrane is coated with CEPI or CADP. The presence of these platelet activators and the high shear rates (5000 to 6000 s–1) under the standardized flow ...

Monitoring of Aspirin (ASA) Pharmacodynamics with the Platelet Function Analyzer PFA-100®
SummaryAnti-platelet drug therapy is currently performed without monitoring, because the established method of platelet aggregometry is cumbersome. The recently developed platelet function analyzer PFA-100® measures shear stress dependent, collagen ...

Platelet Function Analyzer: Shear Activation of Platelets in Microchannels
Biomedical Microdevices, 2003Platelet function is suggestive of pathological conditions in cardiovascular diseases. With current insufficient prognostic devices, the need exists for a device to assess complete platelet function. This work presents a preliminary microfluidic device for such analysis based on platelet adhesion under shear flow conditions.

Platelet Function Analyzed by Light Transmission Aggregometry
2017Analysis of platelet function is widely used for diagnostic work-up in patients with increased bleeding tendency. During the last decades, platelet function testing has also been introduced for evaluation of antiplatelet therapy, but this is still recommended for research purposes only.
