Shape‐Morphing Nanoengineered Hydrogel Ribbons as Hemostats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐assembling, shape‐morphing nanoengineered hydrogel ribbon system that rapidly forms porous aggregates in situ for efficient hemostasis in trauma and surgical applications. Abstract Rapid and effective hemorrhage control remains a major challenge in trauma and surgical care, particularly for complex or noncompressible wounds.

Prasugrel versus adjusted high-dose clopidogrel in patients with high-on- clopidogrel platelet reactivity: the PECS-HPR randomised, multicentre study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Aims: Repeated loading doses (LD) of clopidogrel were shown to effectively overcome high-on-clopidogrel platelet reactivity (HPR); however, comparison to potent P2Y12-inhibitors is lacking.

Electrochemically Driven Dissipative Growth of Affinity Hydrogels for Bioresponsive Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Voltage pulses drive the growth and reinforcement of hydrogel films under dissipative conditions. This biocompatible strategy enables efficient integration of affinity ligands into the hydrogel matrix, enhancing the selective capture of growth factors and allowing precise temporal control over their release, making them well‐suited as adaptive ...

Branched endovascular aortic aneurysm repair decreases platelet reactivity and platelet-rich thrombus formation – a prospective, cohort study

open access: yesPlatelets
Appropriate platelet function determines both the perioperative haemostasis and the risk of postoperative thrombotic complications in patients undergoing branched endovascular repair (bEVAR) of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA).

Triglyceride glucose index influences platelet reactivity in acute ischemic stroke patients

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2021
Aim Insulin resistance was reported to increase the risk of ischemic stroke, which can be assessed by the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index. However, it remains unclear whether the TyG index influences the platelet reactivity during the treatment of ...

Factors influencing transfusion-associated HLA sensitization in patients bridged to heart transplantation using ventricular assist device. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BackgroundBridging heart failure patients with mechanical ventricular assist devices (VAD) enables access to transplantation. However, VAD is associated with increased risk for anti-HLA antibodies associated with rejection of subsequent allografts ...

An Ionic Gelation Powder for Ultrafast Hemostasis and Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafast ionic gelation‐activated hemostatic powder (AGCL) forms a hydrogel within ≈1 s upon contact with blood‐derived calcium ions. The AGCL powder enables rapid hemorrhage control, strong tissue adhesion, and enhanced healing. The powder's pre‐crosslinked polymer network ensures high blood uptake and stability, offering effective treatment for ...

Distinct functions of integrin alpha and beta subunit cytoplasmic domains in cell spreading and formation of focal adhesions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Integrin-mediated cell adhesion often results in cell spreading and the formation of focal adhesions. We exploited the capacity of recombinant human alpha IIb beta 3 integrin to endow heterologous cells with the ability to adhere and spread on fibrinogen

Platelet signaling--blood's great balancing act [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The antagonistic balance between CalDAG-GEFI and RASA3 signaling is critical for the fine-tuning of platelet adhesiveness, both in the circulation and at sites of vascular ...

Encoding Magnetic Anisotropies in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid magnetic device—combining a coaxial coil within a nested Halbach array—is presented, integrated into a DLP 3D printer to enable spatially resolved magnetic field control. This system enables complex, multimodal responses by programming liquid crystal elastomer resins for magnetic and thermal actuation, and by inducing electrically conductive ...
