Evaluation of the provision of crossmatch compatible platelets for haematology patients who have acquired non-immune refractoriness

open access: yes
Platelet demand is unpredictable and will relate to case mix, programmes of treatment requiring intensive platelet support and health service activity.

A phase IIa study of the anti‐PD‐L1 antibody avelumab in relapsed/refractory PTCL: The AVAIL‐T trial

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
The AVAIL‐T study, the first evaluation of programmed death ligand 1 (PD‐L1) blockade in relapsed/refractory peripheral T‐cell lymphomas (PTCL), demonstrated limited single agent activity with durable responses seen in a minority. Circulating tumour DNA revealed distinct mutational dynamics and mass cytometry identified perturbed T‐cell subsets ...

CAR‐HEMATOTOX score to predict risk of poor outcomes with odronextamab in heavily pretreated B‐cell non‐Hodgkin lymphoma

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
High versus low baseline CAR‐HEMATOTOX scores were associated with poorer safety and efficacy outcomes in patients with R/R B‐NHL who received odronextamab in the ELM‐1 and ELM‐2 studies. The CAR‐HEMATOTOX score may provide a readily available measure for identifying patients at risk of inferior clinical outcomes with odronextamab treatment.

Novel approaches for drug development against chronic primary pain: A systematic review

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic primary pain (CPP) persisting for more than 3 months, associated with significant emotional distress without any known underlying cause, is an unmet medical need. Traditional or adjuvant analgesics do not provide satisfactory pain relief for a great proportion of these patients.

Cardiovascular toxicity from immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy: an inflammatory continuum

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy has markedly improved outcomes in advanced malignancies but has also revealed a distinct spectrum of cardiovascular immune‐related adverse events. Myocarditis represents the most severe manifestation, while non‐inflammatory left ventricular dysfunction and vascular inflammation have emerged as additional ...

The nitty‐gritty of vascular permeability in cancer: targeting blood endothelium to control metastases

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Blood vascular permeability is a hallmark of cancer and acts as an active driver of metastatic dissemination. Metastasis accounts for the vast majority of cancer deaths, yet most work has focussed on tumour‐intrinsic traits and angiogenesis, while the specific contribution of endothelial barrier regulation to intravasation and extravasation remains ...

POLA2‐Related Coats Plus Syndrome: Case Presentation and Description of an Emerging Disorder

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
We report an adult male with bilateral retinal vascular disease, hypocellular bone marrow failure, severe gastrointestinal bleeding, and premature hair graying, with telomere lengths near the 10th percentile. Exome sequencing resulted in the diagnosis of POLA2‐related Coats plus syndrome, making him the sixth reported case.
