Factors Associated With Omalizumab Response in Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria: Are There Age‐Related Differences?

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim This study aimed to explore clinical and laboratory markers of omalizumab response in paediatric and adult chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) patients. Methods The study included 32 children and 67 adults with CSU receiving omalizumab, and 29 paediatric and 30 adult healthy controls; associations with treatment response were evaluated ...

Avatrombopag for the salvage treatment of platelet transfusion refractoriness

open access: yes
Background: Platelet transfusion refractoriness (PTR) is a life-threatening and intractable condition in hematological patients. Thrombopoietin receptor agonists such as avatrombopag promote platelet production and modulate immune intolerance.

Janus kinase inhibitors after ruxolitinib failure in myelofibrosis: A systematic review and pooled analysis of phase 3 efficacy and integrated safety across clinical trials and real‐world evidence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Ruxolitinib remains first‐line standard of care for symptomatic myelofibrosis, but resistance/intolerance develops in most patients. Three Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKis) have entered the post‐ruxolitinib space via distinct pivotal trials. We systematically searched prospective trials evaluating JAKi in refractory adults with myelofibrosis ...

Distinct clinical and genetic characteristics of myelodysplastic syndrome in younger patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Myelodysplastic neoplasms (formerly myelodysplastic syndromes, MDS) are heterogeneous clonal haematological malignancies that primarily affect the elderly, though a notable proportion of patients are diagnosed at younger ages. We retrospectively analysed 1437 patients diagnosed or treated at Asan Medical Center between 1989 and 2022, comparing ...

Real‐world outcomes of ide‐cel and cilta‐cel in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma: A nationwide, retrospective analysis in Austria

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary B‐cell maturation antigen‐directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells have revolutionized the treatment of relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. However, no randomized head‐to‐head comparison of idecabtagene vicleucel (ide‐cel) and ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta‐cel) is available, and real‐world data suggest differences in efficacy and ...

SAKK 35/14 randomized trial of rituximab with or without ibrutinib for patients with untreated follicular lymphoma

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary The randomized phase II SAKK 35/14 trial, conducted by the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK) and the Nordic Lymphoma Group (NLG), compared efficacy and safety of rituximab (375 mg/m2 intravenously for 4 weeks followed by maintenance every 2 months for 24 months) plus placebo (arm A) versus the same schedule of rituximab plus ...

Survival after first relapse in marginal zone lymphomas: Prospective data from the international observational NF10 study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary While marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) is generally indolent, outcomes following relapse remain poorly defined. This study utilized the indolent Non Follicular 10 (NF10) prospective database to characterize survival and identify prognostic drivers in patients failing initial systemic therapy. The study analysed 122 patients with relapsed MZL.
