Novel biological risk factors for 7‐day postoperative kidney injury in elective major non‐cardiac surgery: a retrospective observational study

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Few UK studies have explored the epidemiology of postoperative acute kidney injury after diverse types of elective major non‐cardiac surgery. Fewer still have compared postoperative acute kidney injury risk factors with conditions such as peri‐operative myocardial injury that might have similar pathophysiology.

Pre‐operative reference ranges for ROTEM® sigma in patients undergoing cardiac surgery: a secondary analysis of two prospective trial cohorts

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM®) is used widely in cardiac surgery. Reference ranges are derived from healthy volunteers but may not be interchangeable with those from patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Furthermore, sex and age seem to influence rotational thromboelastometry profiles.
