Breaking of Henry’s law for sulfide liquid–basaltic melt partitioning of Pt and Pd

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Platinum group elements are used as tracers for planetary and PGE sulfide deposit formation. Here, the authors, through the measurements of Pt and Pd partition coefficients between sulfide liquid and basaltic melt, demonstrate that the partitioning of Pt

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Biological role in the transformation of platinum-group mineral grains

open access: yes, 2016
Platinum-group elements are strategically important metals. Finding new deposits is becoming increasingly difficult owing to our limited understanding of the processes that affect their mobility in surface environments.

Dual-site catalysts featuring platinum-group-metal atoms on copper shapes boost hydrocarbon formations in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Copper-based catalyst is uniquely positioned to catalyze the hydrocarbon formations through electrochemical CO2 reduction. The catalyst design freedom is limited for alloying copper with H-affinitive elements represented by platinum group metals because ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Time constraints on the formation of lithospheric mantle beneath cratons: a re-Os isotope and platinum group element study of peridotite xenoliths from northern Canada and Lesotho, [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Understanding the generation and evolution of cratonic lithospheric keels requires detailed knowledge of their age, timescale of formation, and the relationship between the crust and mantle part of the lithosphere.

Impact of noise barriers on the dispersal of solid pollutants from car emissions and their deposition in soil

open access: yesSoil Science Annual, 2017
Despite the existence of various methods aimed at protecting the environment from the negative influence of roads, there is a lack of adequate techniques for monitoring and reducing the spread of roadside pollution into the air and soils. The aim of this

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Application of the 190Pt-186Os isotope decay system to dating platinum-group minerals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Constraining the formation age of platinum-group minerals (PGM) in placer deposits has traditionally been very challenging. The 190Pt-186Os decay system, measured by laser ablation multi-collector ICPMS (LA-MC-ICPMS), has been demonstrated as a useful ...
