The effect of cytokines on the ploidy of megakaryocytes

The International Journal of Cell Cloning, 1990
The effects of recombinant cytokines on the ploidy of human megakaryocytes derived from megakaryocyte progenitors were studied using serum-free agar cultures. Nonadherent and T cell-depleted marrow cells were cultured for 14 days. Megakaryocyte colonies were identified in situ by the alkaline phosphatase anti-alkaline phosphatase technique, using ...

Ploidy in the hearts of elderly patients

Virchows Archiv B Cell Pathology Including Molecular Pathology, 1982
The DNA-ploidy of the left and right ventricular wall in 48 patients aged 80-98 years was investigated by scanning cytophotometry. The great variation in nuclear ploidy previously described in the heart muscle was shown to persist during the ninth decade.

DNA ploidy in thin melanoma

Pathology, 1988
DNA ploidy in benign nevi (BN), thin non-metastasizing melanomas (TNM) and thin metastasizing melanomas (TMM) was investigated using an image analyser to determine whether characteristics such as nuclear area (NA) and nuclear integrated optical density (IOD) could be used to distinguish between these lesions.

Ploidy and Prognosis in Renal Carcinoma

British Journal of Urology, 1993
Summary The value of tumour ploidy status as a prognostic indicator in renal carcinoma is disputed. In this retrospective study the DNA content of 90 primary and 10 secondary renal cell carcinomas was measured using flow cytometry. Data on recurrence and survival were available in all cases.

Significance of ploidy in laryngeal cancer

The American Journal of Surgery, 1986
We studied 48 patients with laryngeal or hypopharyngeal primary tumors with DNA flow cytometry. Twenty-four of the tumors were glottic, 18 were supraglottic, and 6 were from the pyriform sinus. Patients were followed for a minimum of 12 months, with a mean follow-up of 23 months. Twenty-three of the 48 primary tumors (48 percent) were clearly aneuploid,

The puzzle of ploidy of Purkinje neurons

The Cerebellum, 2006
This paper places attention on the discrepancies existing in the literature on the ploidy of Purkinje neurons and focuses on the special case of partial replication of their genome and on the unequal frequency of polyploid Purkinje neurons in the cerebellar cortex of the lobes and the vermis. Owing to the compartmental structure of the cerebellum, this

Ploidy of testicular carcinoma in situ.

Laboratory investigation; a journal of technical methods and pathology, 1992
The ploidy of carcinoma in situ and invasive germ cell tumors of the adult testis was compared by DNA flow cytometry. Irrespective of the tumor type with which it was associated, the median DNA index of carcinoma in situ was about the same as that of seminomas and higher than the DNA index of invasive nonseminomatous germ cell tumors.
