Optimum Plot Size for Banana Trials

open access: yesHortScience, 1998
Bananas ( Musa spp. AAA group) are an important food and a source of income for farmers in tropical countries. Black sigatoka ( Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet), a fungal leaf spot disease, is the major production constraint worldwide.

Spatial Variation in Size and Shape of Land Plots in Mazowieckie Voivodship

open access: yesEuropean Spatial Research and Policy, 2018
The aim of the study is to evaluate the spatial variation in the size and shape of land plots in Mazowieckie voivodship. For the purposes of the study both the shape and the compactness of the plots were measured, and the typology of communes was drawn ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Optimum Plot Size for Experimental Cassava Production

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2018
This work aimed to determine the appropriate size of a plot for evaluation of cassava production. We performed a uniformity trial with the Mastruço cassava variety, in Pacajús, Ceará, Brazil, under dry conditions.

Plot size in sugarcane family selection experiments

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2001
This study aimed at verifying the effect of the number of plants per plot on the evaluation of sugarcane families. Five full-sib families were evaluated in randomized complete blocks with 250 genotypes per plot in 3 replications. Each plot consisted of 5

Research on the Impact of Agricultural Production Outsourcing on Farmers’ Fertilizer Application Intensity: An Inverse U-Shaped Relationship

open access: yesAgriculture
Agricultural production outsourcing services encourage a shift in the way crops are grown in developing countries and make it easier for small farmers to join the social division of labor in agriculture. This makes production more efficient and has a big

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The size and shape of plots in sugar‐beet experiments

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, 1975
SUMMARYUniformity of root yield and plant density of sugar beet was assessed on four areas each of 250 small plots‐two in each of the years 1969 and 1970. Plots from which 2–5‐100 m2 of crop was harvested from the centre rows were constructed and their coefficients of variation calculated. Coefficient of variation decreased as harvested area increased,
