Resistance to the Potato Leafroll Virus (PLRV) in Diploid Potatoes
Plant Breeding, 1989AbstractA high level of PLRV resistance has been found in four diploid genotypes originating from resistant ancestors widely utilized in European potato breeding. Plants of these genotypes were difficult to infect not only with aphids, but also with graft inoculation.

Potato leafroll virus (PLRV): its transmission and control
Integrated Pest Management Reviews, 1996This review provides a wide assessment of the present state of knowledge about the potato leafroll luteovirus (PLRV), a pathogen which is seriously devastating potato crops in many parts of the world. The main biological, physical and chemical properties of this virus are described. The transmission of PLRV by aphids, which are the only transmitters of

In vitro production of PLRV and PSTVd-free plants of potato using electrotherapy
Journal of Crop Science and Biotechnology, 2016Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) and Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) were responsible for major economic losses in potato production. Effect of electrotherapy on the regeneration response and production of PLRV and PSTVd-free plants from potato explants is reported. DAS-ELISA and RT-PCR were used for indexing of infected and in vitro-regenerated potato

Reaction to the potato leafroll virus (PLRV) in diploid potatoes
Potato Research, 1988Diploid parents with some resistance to PLRV, were intercrossed to give 3 families with 191 clones which were evaluated for reaction to PLRV and yielding ability. After inoculation with PLRV the clones could be separated into those: 1) resistant, 2) susceptible, 3) intolerant, reacting with low virus concentration, 4) tolerant and 5) intermediate in ...

AN INTRASEASONAL BIOECONOMIC MODEL OF PLRV NET NECROSIS
1998A bioeconomic model is developed as an IPM planning tool to combat PLRV net necrosis in the PNW potato industry. Environmental/biological and production processes are linked to marketing activities using discrete time control. We find that pesticides can be optimally timed to reduce applications and still protect against net necrosis.

Newly recorded plant-aphid associations: Implications for PLRV and PVY control in potato crops
Crop Protection, 2023The most important viral diseases in potato crops are PVY and PLRV, and they are efficiently transmitted by numerous aphids being Myzus persicae and Macrosiphum euphorbiae, the most important. These vector aphids are highly polyphagous and are widely distributed; and since PVY and PLRV have a broad host range there can be a wide diversity of plants ...

Epidemiology and Field Control of PVY and PLRV
2001Viral diseases of potatoes can cause significant yield and quality losses for the commercial producer but are of particular concern to the seed potato producer. Potato virus Y (PVY) and Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) are the most common of the 28 viral diseases known to infect potato (Salazar, 1996).

Suppression of PLRV Titer in transgenic Russet Burbank and Ranger Russet
American Potato Journal, 1995Potato varieties Russet Burbank and Ranger Russet were transformed with a cDNA version of the 23 kD coat protein cistron (CP) of the potato leafroll virus (PLRV) using anAgrobacterium-mediated procedure. Clones were assayed for presence of thenpt- II and CP genes by Southern analysis, for expression of CP mRNA by Northern analysis, and for presence of ...

Potato leafroll virus (PLRV;Genus Polerovirus; Family Luteoviridae)
2001Symptoms of primary infection by PLRV consist of pallor and upward rolling of young leaves, especially at the base, with an upright habit. The edges of young leaflets of some cultivars may develop reddening. Secondary symptoms, in plants grown from infected tubers, are stunting of the shoots and upward rolling of leaflets, especially of basal leaves ...
