Multiplex microsphere immuno-detection of potato virus Y, X and PLRV

open access: yesJournal of Virological Methods, 2008
To monitor seed potatoes for potato virus X, Y and PLRV, a multiplex microsphere immunoassay (MIA) was developed based on the Luminex xMAP technology, as an alternative to ELISA. The xMAP technology allowed detection of a number of antigens simultaneously whereas ELISA only allowed simplex detection of antigens. The use of paramagnetic beads in the MIA

AN INTRASEASONAL BIOECONOMIC MODEL OF PLRV NET NECROSIS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A bioeconomic model is developed as an IPM planning tool to combat PLRV net necrosis in the PNW potato industry. Environmental/biological and production processes are linked to marketing activities using discrete time control. We find that pesticides can be optimally timed to reduce applications and still protect against net necrosis.

Molecular diagnostics of potato infections with PVY and PLRV by immunochromatography

Moscow University Biological Sciences Bulletin, 2016
An immunochromatography test system has been developed for molecular diagnostics of the potato virus Y and PLRV infection. To increase a low yield of PLRV and raise antibodies against the PLRV antigen, chimerical virus was constructed comprising the PLRV coat protein and recombinant RNA of a tobamovirus, in which capsid protein gene was replaced by the

Reaction to the potato leafroll virus (PLRV) in diploid potatoes

Potato Research, 1988
Diploid parents with some resistance to PLRV, were intercrossed to give 3 families with 191 clones which were evaluated for reaction to PLRV and yielding ability. After inoculation with PLRV the clones could be separated into those: 1) resistant, 2) susceptible, 3) intolerant, reacting with low virus concentration, 4) tolerant and 5) intermediate in ...

Resistance to the Potato Leafroll Virus (PLRV) in Diploid Potatoes

Plant Breeding, 1989
AbstractA high level of PLRV resistance has been found in four diploid genotypes originating from resistant ancestors widely utilized in European potato breeding. Plants of these genotypes were difficult to infect not only with aphids, but also with graft inoculation.

Newly recorded plant-aphid associations: Implications for PLRV and PVY control in potato crops

open access: yesCrop Protection, 2023
The most important viral diseases in potato crops are PVY and PLRV, and they are efficiently transmitted by numerous aphids being Myzus persicae and Macrosiphum euphorbiae, the most important. These vector aphids are highly polyphagous and are widely distributed; and since PVY and PLRV have a broad host range there can be a wide diversity of plants ...

In vitro production of PLRV and PSTVd-free plants of potato using electrotherapy

Journal of Crop Science and Biotechnology, 2016
Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) and Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) were responsible for major economic losses in potato production. Effect of electrotherapy on the regeneration response and production of PLRV and PSTVd-free plants from potato explants is reported. DAS-ELISA and RT-PCR were used for indexing of infected and in vitro-regenerated potato
