Characterization of the Plumbing System Beneath Askja Caldera, Iceland, Revealed by Microgravity and Deformation Data During Uplift Between 2022 and 2023

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract In July 2021, an episode of uplift started at Askja caldera, Iceland, following over 50 years of subsidence. The initial inflation rate was approximately 700mm/yr $700\hspace*{.5em}\mathrm{m}\mathrm{m}/\mathrm{y}\mathrm{r}$, declining to 350mm/yr $350\hspace*{.5em}\mathrm{m}\mathrm{m}/\mathrm{y}\mathrm{r}$ within 1 month.

Impacts of Transient Critical Zone Evolution on Landslide Susceptibility and Hazard Across the Utuado Batholith, Puerto Rico

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Landscapes in humid climates often experience rapid chemical and mechanical weathering that can change groundwater fluxes, drainage pathways, and frictional strength via alterations in subsurface mineral composition and matrix porosity. These changes to hillslope critical zone structure and strength should control landslide susceptibility ...

Why Does the Broken Hill Deposit Sit in Resistive Crust? Magnetotelluric Evidence for Metamorphic Decoupling of a World‐Class Mineral System

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The spatial association between electrical conductors and ore deposits underpins the widespread use of magnetotellurics (MT) in mineral exploration, yet not all mineral systems preserve a diagnostic conductive signature. Here, we present a high‐resolution MT study of the region hosting the world‐class Broken Hill Pb‐Zn‐Ag deposit (NSW ...

‘Everything is a signal’: speaking circuits and noisy signs in the making of language‐oriented AI « Tout est signal » : circuits parlants et signes bruyants dans la création de l'IA orientée langage

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 32, Issue 3, Page 983-1002, September 2026.
Contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are often presumed to be capable of revealing unmediated truths about the world, including the truths language might hold, echoing the long‐standing assertion that language's primary function is to directly translate reality.

The Weaponization of ESG Infrastructures and the Future of Green Finance

open access: yesGlobal Policy, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 714-722, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The trillion‐dollar green finance industry faces growing pushbacks from a range of actors. While criticisms vary—from portraying ESG as part of a “woke” agenda to highlighting risks of greenwashing—we now see mass departures from climate–finance initiatives, with asset managers coming under fire from regulators over ESG policies and activist ...

The Questioning of Special Items During Conference Calls: High Quality or Highly Questionable? Réexaminer des éléments exceptionnels lors des conférences téléphoniques : une pratique d'excellence ou très contestable?

open access: yesContemporary Accounting Research, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 1651-1681, Fall 2026.
ABSTRACT Accounting standards require firms to distinguish recurring revenues and expenses from nonrecurring gains and losses, which are often referred to as special items. However, not all special items are genuinely nonrecurring. Exploiting the setting of earnings conference calls, we explore whether analysts can identify opportunistic special items,
