PLZT electro-optic waveguides and switches

OFC 2001. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest Postconference Edition (IEEE Cat. 01CH37171), 2001
Switches using (Pb,La)(Zr,Ti)O/sub 3/ waveguides on Nb-doped SrTiO/sub 3/ semiconductor substrates were fabricated. A fabricated 1 2 switch showed crosstalk of n22 dB and response of 20 ns at a voltage as low as 10 V.

PLZT: Precursor characterization and ferroelectric properties

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 1998
Abstract PZT and PLZT precursor solutions were prepared by a sol-gel route, varying the Zr/Ti ratio and the La doping level. They were characterized by TGA coupled with FT-IR. Reactions taking place during heat treatments are discussed. Composition of PZT and PLZT thin films was measured by RBS and their orientation determined by XRD.

Transmission Switching Characteristics of PLZT Shutters

Applied Optics, 1973
The ON-OFF ratio, insertion loss, and switching speed of polycrystalline ferroelectric ceramic PLZT electrooptic shutters fabricated with a zirconium to titanium ratio of 65 to 35 and a lanthanum concentration of approximately 8% were investigated as functions of voltage amplitude and duration. Larger ON-OFF ratios (33 dB for dc mode) were observed for

Studies on microstructure and microproperty of PLZT ceramics

Ferroelectrics, 1988
Abstract The microstructure of PLZT tranparent ferroelectric ceramics were studied by using the HREM techniques and electron diffraction study. The following experimental results were obtained: (1) The structure of micro-domains presented in the cubic α phase is exactly the same structure of its ferroelectric β phase after poling.

PLZT modulator characterization

Optical Engineering, 1995
A commercial PLZT modulator is characterized at wavelengths from 0.6328 μm to the limits of its IR transmission around 9 μm. Laser polarimetry and IR spectropolarimetry are the characterization techniques used. Polarization measurement results include diattenuation and retardation.

PLZT membranes via electrospinning by means of variable suspension of PLZT/PVC and thermal treatment

Ferroelectrics, 2017
ABSTRACTPLZT (9/65/35) membranes composed of micro fibers were developed by electrospinning using a suspension of PLZT/PVC. The electrospun fibrous membrane of ceramic/PVC composite was heat treated at 800°C, 900°C and 1000°C for 1 hr in air to remove organic components and PVC. The effect on the morphology and composition of the membranes of PLZT/PVC,

PLZT reflective displays

Ferroelectrics, 1983
Abstract The practical application of PLZT electrooptic ceramic materials to non-memory, segmented displays is reported. Appearance, configuration and operational characteristics are described and compared with LCD (liquid crystal) displays. Significant features include wide viewing angle, wide operating temperature range, high speed and color ...

Dielectric aging in the plzt system

Ferroelectrics, 1975
The aging rates of K and tan δ were determined for some ferroelectric and antiferroelectric PLZT compositions as a function of frequency and DC bias. The aging reached a maximum at the FER-AF0 boundary. The antiferroelectric compositions exhibited aging in both K and tan δ. PbZrO3 has a K aging rate of 2.4% per decade.

Dielectric properties of PLZT ceramics

Conference on Electrical Insulation & Dielectric Phenomena - Annual Report 1976, 1976
The dielectric behavior of ferroelectric ceramics are of special importance in determining their electro-optic properties. An electro-optic ceramic is a transparent or partially transparent polycrystalline ferroelectric material. It is composed of an aggregate of ferroelectric single crystal grains, with a typical grain size varying from 0.5 to 40 μm ...
