Light absorption and scattering in PLZT

Abstract An experimental study of the distribution of the light extinction with respect to absorbtion and scattering in hot-pressed PLZT 9.75/65/35 at the wavelength 0.425 – 5.56 μm is reported. The light scattering spectrum is explained by the Usov-Shermergor theory.

PLZT fiber-optic switch

Electrocaloric effect in PLZT ceramics

The electrocaloric effect in rhombohedral PLZT ceramics is studied as function of applied field and temperature. The results obtained are consistent with the general idea of the existence of an intermediate state of mixed polar and nonpolar regions in the interval of the diffuse phase transition.

Fabrication of PLZT and the measurement of birefringence

In the present work we studied the fabrication of ferroelectric film as PLZT by the sol-gel technique, and the birefringence optical property induced by the external voltage is measured by the electro-optic modulated heterodyne interferometer. The seeding layer as PT is deposited on the ITO glass substrate before the deposition of PLZT film.

Structural Features of PLZT Films

Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) films doped with lanthanum, Pb(1–х)Laх(Zr0.48Ti0.52) (х = 0, 0.02, 0.05, 0.08, or 0.01), have been investigated by electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Films were formed on Si–SiO2–TiO2–Pt substrates by chemical vapor deposition from a solution and annealed at temperatures T = 650 and 750°C.

PLZT modulators for optical communications

Abstract Techniqus for efficient modulation of multimode unpolariezed light are important for optical communications. Integrated optic and micro-optic modulators were constructed using the electric field induced scattering effects in 9/65/35 PLZT and modulation bandwidths of up to 1MHz were obtained.

Polymorphism and penferroelectricity in PLZT ceramics

The interaction of structure with optical and electrical properties in lanthanum-doped lead zirconate-titanate (PLZT) ceramics is complex. An interpretation is presented which shows the critical dependence of structure and, hence, properties on the state of polarization, the temperature, and the La content.

Elastic Anomaly of the Tetragonal PLZT

Elastic properties of lanthanum doped lead zirconate-titanate, PLZT (9.8/55/45), were studied by the ultrasonic pulse-echo-overlap technique over the range from -70°C to 100°C including both the paraelectric and the ferroelectric phase. The measured velocities have pronounced changes at the transition temperature.
