Characterization and Transcript Profiling of PME and PMEI Gene Families during Peach Fruit Maturation

open access: yes, 2017
A BSTRACT . Pectins are synthesized and secreted to the cell wall as highly methyl-esterified polymers and demethyl- esterified by pectin methylesterases (PMEs), which are regulated by pectin methylesterase inhibitors (PMEIs).

Characterization of the Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Pectin Methylesterases: Evolution, Activity of Isoforms and Expression During Fruit Ripening

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Pectin methylesterase (PME, EC 3.1.1.11) is a hydrolytic enzyme of pectin that plays multiple roles in different plant development processes and responses to biotic stress. To characterize the molecular evolution and functional divergence of the PME gene

AA-PMe, a novel asiatic acid derivative, induces apoptosis and suppresses proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells

open access: yesOncoTargets and Therapy, 2016
Asiatic acid (AA; 2α,3β,23-trihydroxyurs-12-ene-28-oic acid) is widely used for medicinal purposes in many Asian countries due to its various bioactivities. A series of AA derivatives has been synthesized in attempts to improve its therapeutic potencies.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

PME-1 sensitizes glioblastoma cells to oxidative stress-induced cell death by attenuating PP2A-B55α-mediated inactivation of MAPKAPK2-RIPK1 signaling

open access: yesCell Death Discovery, 2023
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor in adults. Current standard therapy is surgery followed by radiotherapy, with concurrent and adjuvant temozolomide chemotherapy.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Cytotoxic effects of parijoto (Medinilla speciosa Reinw. Ex. Bl.) methanol extract combined with cisplatin on WiDr colon cancer cells through apoptosis induction

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Biotechnology, 2022
Parijoto (Medinilla speciosa Reinw. Ex. Bl.) is a medicinal plant with cytotoxic effects on cancer cells in vitro. As only a limited number of studies have reported the effect of parijoto on colon cancer cells, this study initially aimed to measure the ...
