A naturally occurring deleted form of RNA 2 of Potato mop-top virus

open access: yes, 1999
A spontaneous deletion in RNA 2 of Potato mop-top virus (PMTV) was identified by RT-PCR. The deletion occurred reproducibly during manual passage of two isolates of PMTV and during fungal inoculation of plants with viruliferous soil.

Studies on fungus transmission and molecular pathology of potato mop-top furovirus

open access: yes, 1995
A reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay was shown to be sensitive and reliable for detection of potato mop-top virus (PMTV) RNA sequences in the flesh of infected potato tubers, and in the roots and leaves of soilbait plants ...

Potato mop-top virus: variability, movement and suppression of host defence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Potato mop-top virus (PMTV) causes an economically damaging disease called potato spraing. Despite being reported across the potato growing regions in the world, very little genetic variability has been reported for the virus.

Factors affecting the detection of potato mop‐top virus in potato tubers and improvement of test procedures for more reliable assays

open access: yes, 1998
Progeny tubers were harvested from plants of five potato cultivars that had been grown in potato mop-top virus (PMTV) infested soil. The tubers were tested for virus infection by methods based on reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR ...
