Large n limit of Gaussian random matrices with external source, part I

open access: yes, 2004
We consider the random matrix ensemble with an external source \[ \frac{1}{Z_n} e^{-n \Tr({1/2}M^2 -AM)} dM \] defined on $n\times n$ Hermitian matrices, where $A$ is a diagonal matrix with only two eigenvalues $\pm a$ of equal multiplicity. For the case

Classification of Incidence Scrolls(I) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The aim of this paper is to obtain a classification of scrolls of genus 0 and 1, which are defined by a one-dimensional family of lines meeting a certain set of linear spaces in ${\bf P}^n$.

Biocontrol effects and underlying mechanism of Bacillus subtilis Pn1 on Panax notoginseng root rot caused by Fusarium solani

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Panax notoginseng, a valuable plant used in traditional Chinese medicine, is often difficult to cultivate because of its susceptibility to various diseases, including root rot.

Noise properties of two single electron transistors coupled by a nanomechanical resonator

open access: yes, 2005
We analyze the noise properties of two single electron transistors (SETs) coupled via a shared voltage gate consisting of a nanomechanical resonator. Working in the regime where the resonator can be treated as a classical system, we find that the SETs ...

Discovery of new low-excitation planetary nebulae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report a multi-wavelength study of four new planetary nebula (PN) candidates selected from the INT/WFC Photometric Ha Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS) and Deep Sky Hunter (DSH) catalogues.

Ejecta‐Modulated Bubble Dynamics Play a Dominant Role in Stone Retropulsion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stone motion during laser ablation is shown to result primarily from asymmetric cavitation bubble collapse, not from ejecta recoil. This challenges long‐standing assumptions and highlights the dominant role of bubble dynamics in laser–material interactions.

Singularities of affine equidistants: projections and contacts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Using standard methods for studying singularities of projections and of contacts, we classify the stable singularities of affine $\lambda$-equidistants of $n$-dimensional closed submanifolds of $\mathbb R^q$, for $q\leq 2n$, whenever $(2n,q)$ is a pair ...

Prospective Feasibility Study of Laparoscopic and Robotic Distal Gastrectomy for Advanced Gastric Cancer to Verify the Safety of Surgical Proximal Margins

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ensuring an adequate surgical proximal margin (SPM) is crucial in radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. However, the lack of tactile feedback in laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LDG) and robotic distal gastrectomy (RDG) poses challenges in precisely determining tumor boundaries, particularly in advanced gastric cancer, where tumor ...

Genomic analysis of storage protein deficiency in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
A series of genetically related lines of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) integrate a progressive deficiency in major storage proteins, the 7S globulin phaseolin and lectins.
