New approach of sliding mode control for nonlinear uncertain pneumatic artificial muscle manipulator enhanced with adaptive fuzzy estimator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2018
A new enhanced adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control approach is proposed in this article with its good availability for application in control of a highly uncertain nonlinear two-link pneumatic artificial muscle manipulator. Stability demonstration of the

An Application of a Pneumatic Muscles Actuator for a Delta Pneumatic Manipulator

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Mechanical Series, 2014
The main aim of this study was to use pneumatic muscle actuators in the construction of the delta manipulator with a closed kinematic chain. The paper presents a solid models of the manipulator and the kinematic diagram. Based on the kinematic diagram and using DH notation (Denavit-Hartenberg) manipulator kinematic models was determined.

Buckling Pneumatic Linear Actuators Inspired by Muscle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The mechanical features of biological muscles are difficult to reproduce completely in synthetic systems. A new class of soft pneumatic structures (vacuum-actuated muscle-inspired pneumatic structures) is described that combines actuation by negative ...

Electrocapillary Modulated Interfacial Tension Amplifies Liquid Metal Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presented an electrocapillary‐enhanced magnetohydrodynamic pumping strategy that harnesses the Lorentz force and interfacial tension modulation of liquid metal droplets to achieve amplified fluidic power. The system enabled low‐voltage, self‐oscillating fluidic transduction with enhanced pressure and flow generation, supporting compact ...

Joint variable stiffness of musculoskeletal leg mechanism for quadruped robot

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
When the quadruped robot is in locomotion such as jumping and running with higher speed, there is non-continuous contact force between the foot and the environment inevitably. In order to achieve the flexible force interaction of the bionic legs with the

FATIGUE CHARACTERISTICS OF PNEUMATIC MUSCLES WITH AXIAL THREADS

open access: yesProceedings of the JFPS International Symposium on Fluid Power, 2002
The pneumatic muscle actuator (PM) with axial threads is a different idea from the McKibben PM. The muscle consists of an elastic bladder, similar to a tube, that is attached at either end to fittings. Inside the bladder longitudinal high resistance cables are inserted. Outside some circular rings stop the radial deformation in some points.
