Podoplanin expression in the development and progression of laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas [PDF]
Background: Podoplanin expression is attracting interest as a marker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. We therefore investigated the expression pattern and clinical significance of podoplanin during the development and progression of laryngeal ...

Podoplanin, a Potential Therapeutic Target for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma [PDF]
Introduction. The role of podoplanin (PDPN) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is still unknown. The aims of this study were to investigate the expression and role of PDPN in NPC cells.Materials and Methods. Immunofluorescence staining and functional tests were used to determine the effects of PDPN knockdown by siRNA in TW01 NPC cells.

Adenine nucleotide translocase 1 (ANT1), a mitochondrial ATP transporter, is decreased in the lung epithelium of aged adults and aged mice correlating to pathogenic airway changes. Loss of ANT1 correlates with increased cellular senescence and changes in COL8A1 in the airway epithelium of the lung.

Mononuclear Phagocyte System Depletion Blocks Interstitial Tonicity-Responsive Enhancer Binding Protein/Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor C Expression and Induces Salt-Sensitive Hypertension in Rats [PDF]
We showed recently that mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS) cells provide a buffering mechanism for salt-sensitive hypertension by driving interstitial lymphangiogenesis, modulating interstitial Na(+) clearance, and increasing endothelial NO synthase ...

Study of Podoplanin Expression in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Background & Objective: Head and Neck Squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is one of the leading cancers worldwide. Cervical lymph node metastasis is the most adverse prognostic factor for patients with HNSCC.

Metastasis in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC) poses significant clinical challenges. This proof‐of‐concept study establishes patient‐derived orthotopic xenografts (PDOXs) as advanced models that closely replicate primary HNSC tumours, including local lymph node metastasis and the intricate cancer–stroma interaction.

The podoplanin-CLEC-2 axis is critical in mice for prevention of hemorrhage in the cerebral vasculature during mid-gestation. This raises the question as to how platelets are captured by podoplanin on neuroepithelial cells in a high shear environment. In
