Photoenzymatic Hydroalkylation Enables Streamlined Access to Aryl Glutarimide Precursors

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
We report a photoenzymatic hydroalkylation that enables streamlined, stereocontrolled access to aryl glutarimide precursors relevant to targeted protein degradation. Engineered flavin‐dependent “ene”‐reductases provide broad scope and high enantioselectivity through a distinct electron transfer–enantioselective proton transfer pathway.

The ILEOSTIM trial: A multicentre randomised controlled trial evaluating the impact of efferent loop stimulation prior to ileostomy reversal on postoperative ileus

open access: yesColorectal Disease, Volume 28, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Background Strategies to optimise bowel function before stoma reversal surgery (SRS) are needed to improve postoperative outcomes. Efferent bowel stimulation (EBS) prior to stoma closure has been proposed as a potential strategy to reduce postoperative ileus (POI) incidence and improve the patient's postoperative course.

Patterns of Language and Visuospatial Lateralisation and Cognitive Ability in Young Children Aged 4–7 Years

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 29, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Previous research suggests that the development of lateralisation throughout childhood might be related to individual differences in cognitive ability, but evidence from early childhood is lacking. The current study aimed to determine if there is a relationship between patterns of language and visuospatial lateralisation and cognitive ability ...

Mutation in MSH5 Causes Primary Ovarian Insufficiency and Successful Therapeutic Intervention by In Vitro Fertilisation

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a genetically heterogeneous disorder characterised by cessation of menstruation before the age of 40 years with elevated levels of follicle‐stimulating hormone. Germline variants in the MSH5 gene cause POI. In this study, we investigated a Han Chinese family with POI.
