Carotid artery dissection linked to intermittent apnoeic swimming: A case–control study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection is a rare and potentially devastating cause of cerebral ischaemia, initiated by an intimal tear or rupture of the vasa vasorum, that can lead to an intraluminal thrombus, vascular stenosis, occlusion, or dissecting aneurysm formation.

Combining phenomic and genomic selection for pea breeding improvement

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Pea (Pisum sativum L.) is a strategic crop in the development of sustainable agriculture. However, the genetic gain remains limited despite advances in breeding. Genomic selection holds promise to accelerate varietal improvement, but its high implementation cost restricts its use in crops.

Rebalancing Software Defect Datasets via Mutation: Performance Insights From Prediction Models Based on Software Measures

open access: yesSoftware Testing, Verification and Reliability, Volume 36, Issue 5, August 2026.
A mutation‐based approach (MBA) to rebalance defect datasets improves recall, particularly in cross‐project prediction, but increases false alarms and does not consistently enhance MCC or AUC. These findings highlight both the potential and limitations of mutation‐based rebalancing in software defect prediction.

Dietary Phytochemical Index and Its Relationship With Diminished Ovarian Reserve: Evidence From a Case–Control Study

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
A higher dietary phytochemical index was associated with lower odds of diminished ovarian reserve, highlighting the potential role of phytochemical‐rich diets in supporting ovarian function and reproductive health. ABSTRACT Introduction Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) represents a significant contributor to female infertility and adverse reproductive ...

Forecasting New Employment Using Nonrepresentative Online Job Advertisements With an Application to the Italian and EU Labor Market

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, Volume 45, Issue 4, Page 1529-1558, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Using online job advertisement data improves the timeliness and granularity depth of analysis in the labor market in domains not covered by official data. Specifically, its variation over time may be used as an anticipator of official employment variations.

Rönsyt pois!

open access: yesAikuiskasvatus, 2011

Forecasting Count Data With Varying Dispersion: A Latent‐Variable Approach

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, Volume 45, Issue 4, Page 1985-2000, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Count data, such as product sales and disease case counts, are common in business forecasting and many areas of science. Although the Poisson distribution is the best known model for such data, its use is severely limited by its assumption that the dispersion is a fixed function of the mean, which rarely holds in real‐world scenarios.

Causal effects of reproductive traits on cognitive function: A two‐sample and multivariable mendelian randomization study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 174, Issue 1, Page 424-435, July 2026.
Abstract Objective Potential associations between reproductive traits and cognitive function have been discovered; however, the results are inconsistent, and the causalities are unclear. This study utilized Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to assess the causal impact of reproductive traits on cognitive function.
