In this study, we geometrically analyze the relation between a point vortex system and deviation curvatures on the Jacobi field. First, eigenvalues of deviation curvatures are calculated from relative distances of point vortices in a three point vortex ...

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

A highly adaptive three dimensional hybrid vortex method for inviscid flows and helically symmetric vortex equilibria [PDF]
This thesis is concerned with three-dimensional vortex dynamics, in particular the modelling of vortex structures in an inviscid context. We are motivated by the open problem of regularity of the inviscid equations, i.e.

Improvements to the convection scheme in the vortex particle method using a semi-Lagrangian method
This study focuses on the convection scheme in the vortex particle method. The usual two-step convection procedure for vortex elements, which comprises the convection of vortex elements on each grid point and redistribution of vorticity into each grid ...

Shock wave formation from head-on collision of two subsonic vortex rings
Vortex ring collisions have attracted intense interest in both water and air studies (Baird in Proc R Soc Lond Ser Math Phys Sci 409:59–65, 1987, Poudel et al. in Phys Fluids 33:096105, 2021, Lim and Nickels in Nature 357:225, 1992, New et al.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

The motion of a singular vortex near an escarpment [PDF]
McDonald (1998) has studied the motion of an intense, quasi-geostrophic, equivalent barotropic, singular vortex near an infinitely long escarpment. The present work considers the remaining cases of the motion of weak and moderate intensity singular ...

Optimization design and experimental study of vortex pump based on orthogonal test
To study the effects of the performance of different types of impeller on the vortex pump, orthogonal test design, which is carried out by combining experimental test and numerical calculation, is adopted to optimize the type of design structure for the ...
