Performance Evaluation of MPPM-Coded Wireless Optical MIMO System with Combined Effects over Correlated Fading Channel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2020
The performance of wireless optical MIMO system with multiple pulse position modulation (MPPM) over correlated fading channel is investigated. The combined effects of atmospheric attenuation, atmospheric turbulence, and pointing error are taken into ...

Periodic template compensation phase feeding method for phased array antenna

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2023
To minimise the beam‐pointing error caused by the digital phase shifter in phased array antenna systems, a periodic template compensation (PTC) phase feeding algorithm is proposed in this study.

Optical Wireless Performance Monitoring Using Asynchronous Amplitude Histograms

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
Optical performance monitoring (OPM) aims to estimate the amount of distortion in optical networks. Its importance relies on building robust and efficient networks with self and dynamic diagnosis.

Modelling Error Rates in Temporal Pointing [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2016 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2016
We present a novel model to predict error rates in temporal pointing. With temporal pointing, a target is about to appear within a limited time window for selection. Unlike in spatial pointing, there is no movement to control in the temporal domain; the user can only determine when to launch the response.

Machine Learning-Based Beam Pointing Error Reduction for Satellite–Ground FSO Links

open access: yesElectronics
Free space optical (FSO) communication, which has the potential to meet the demand for high-data-rate communications between satellites and ground stations, requires accurate alignment between the transmitter and receiver to establish a line-of-sight ...

Impact of angular pointing error on BER performance of underwater optical wireless links.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
Even in clear ocean water, underwater optical wireless communication (UOWC) is impaired not only by absorption and scattering, but also by oceanic turbulence and dynamic pointing errors which result in a fading channel, degrading the bit error rate (BER)

Multiple Transmitters for Gain Saturated Pre-Amplified FSO Communication Systems Limited by Strong Atmospheric Turbulence and Pointing Error

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The use of multiple transmitters in a turbulent free-space optical (FSO) communication link can enhance the systems performance because greater received power can improve receiver sensitivity. Nevertheless, the effect of having more power at the receiver

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...
