The cytolytic T lymphocyte response to the murine cytomegalovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
During the acute cytolytic T lymphocyte (CTL) response of mice to infection with the murine cytomegalovirus two independent populations of activated interleukin-receptive CTL precursors can be demonstrated.

Sex hormone regulation of in vitro immune response. Estradiol enhances human B cell maturation via inhibition of suppressor T cells in pokeweed mitogen-stimulated cultures

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1981
The effects of the main male and female sex hormones, testosterones and estradiol, in pokeweed mitogen (PWM)-stimulated cultures of human blood lymphocytes were studied.

Transcriptome analysis of Phytolacca americana L. in response to cadmium stress.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Phytolacca americana L. (pokeweed) has metal phytoremediation potential, but little is known about its metal accumulation-related genes. In this study, the de novo sequencing of total RNA produced 53.15 million reads covering 10.63 gigabases of ...

Suppression of Human T-cell Leukemia Virus I Gene Expression by Pokeweed Antiviral Protein*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2009
Human T-cell leukemia virus I (HTLV-I) is a deltaretrovirus that is the causative agent of adult T-cell leukemia and the neurological disorder HTLV-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis.

Optimisation of purple dyeing with Mexican cochineal in cotton with multivariate analysis and the response surface method

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 142, Issue 1, Page 156-169, February 2026.
Abstract This study aims to optimise the dyeing process of cotton fabrics using Mexican cochineal (Dactylopius coccus Costa). The objective is to obtain purple hues through the design of experiments and by using multivariate analysis. Plackett–Burman experimental designs and the response surface method were used to systematically optimise the dyeing ...

Expression of novel fusion antiviral proteins ricin a chain-pokeweed antiviral proteins (RTA-PAPs) in Escherichia coli and their inhibition of protein synthesis and of hepatitis B virus in vitro

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology, 2018
Background Ricin A chain (RTA) and Pokeweed antiviral proteins (PAPs) are plant-derived N-glycosidase ribosomal-inactivating proteins (RIPs) isolated from Ricinus communis and Phytolacca Americana respectively. This study was to investigate the potential

Expression of interleukin 2 receptors on activated human B cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Using anti-Tac, a monoclonal anti-interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptor antibody, we have explored the possibility that certain activated B cells display receptors for IL-2.

Docosahexaenoic Acid Consumption Early in Life Improves Immune Dysfunction in High‐Fat Diet‐Fed Wistar Rats in a Sex‐Specific Manner

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 2, 29 January 2026.
Feeding a high‐fat diet (HFD) did not alter body composition or inflammatory outcomes but resulted in impaired regulatory T cell response and compromised adaptive immunity and antigen‐presenting function. Supplementing the diet with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) improved these HFD‐related immune changes in a sex‐specific manner.

Optimisation of the lymphocyte proliferation assay in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2019
The lymphocyte proliferation assay is a valuable method used for the evaluation of the fish immune system. However, there are many variations and optimal results are not always obtained.
