Noncoherent Detection With Polar Codes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Polar codes (PCs) have attracted significant attention in the last decade, especially after their adoption in the forthcoming 5G wireless networks. However, previous studies focused on coherent polar codes, which always rely on the strong assumption of ...

From Polar to Reed-Muller Codes: a Technique to Improve the Finite-Length Performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We explore the relationship between polar and RM codes and we describe a coding scheme which improves upon the performance of the standard polar code at practical block lengths.

Polar codes for distributed source coding [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2013
A polar coding method to construct a distributed source coding scheme which can achieve any point on the dominant face of the Slepian‐Wolf rate region for sources with uniform marginals is proposed.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

SC-Fano Decoding of Polar Codes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
For finite-length polar codes, the standard successive cancellation (SC) decoding has been improved, such as SC-List (SCL), SC-Stack (SCS), and SC-Flip (SCF) decodings.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Concatenated LDPC-Polar Codes Decoding Through Belief Propagation

open access: yes, 2017
Owing to their capacity-achieving performance and low encoding and decoding complexity, polar codes have drawn much research interests recently. Successive cancellation decoding (SCD) and belief propagation decoding (BPD) are two common approaches for ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Cooperative Punctured Polar Coding (CPPC) Scheme Based on Plotkin’s Construction [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2016
A new cooperative punctured polar coding (CPPC) scheme with multi joint successive cancellation (MJSC) decoding at the destination is proposed, which may be obtained by applying puncturing algorithm to cooperative polar coding scenario.

Line Polar Grassmann Codes of Orthogonal Type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Polar Grassmann codes of orthogonal type have been introduced in I. Cardinali and L. Giuzzi, \emph{Codes and caps from orthogonal Grassmannians}, {Finite Fields Appl.} {\bf 24} (2013), 148-169.
