Polar codes with mixed kernels [PDF]

open access: yes2011 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2011
A generalization of the polar coding scheme called mixed-kernels is introduced. This generalization exploits several homogeneous kernels over alphabets of different sizes. An asymptotic analysis of the proposed scheme shows that its polarization properties are strongly related to the ones of the constituent kernels.

A path splitting and pruning strategy on list decoder for PAC codes

open access: yesIET Communications
Recently, Arıkan proposed a polarization‐adjusted convolutional (PAC) codes, demonstrating their superior error correction performance over polar codes at short block lengths.

List decoding of polar codes [PDF]

open access: yes2011 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2011
We describe a successive-cancellation \emph{list} decoder for polar codes, which is a generalization of the classic successive-cancellation decoder of Arıkan. In the proposed list decoder, up to $L$ decoding paths are considered concurrently at each decoding stage. Then, a single codeword is selected from the list as output. If the most likely codeword

Towards Enhanced Decoding of Polar Codes and PAC Codes

open access: yes, 2021
This thesis focuses on improving list decoding of polar codes in terms of error correction performance (by modified polar codes and shifted-pruning scheme) and the computational/time complexity (by stepped list decoding scheme).

Noncoherent Detection With Polar Codes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Polar codes (PCs) have attracted significant attention in the last decade, especially after their adoption in the forthcoming 5G wireless networks. However, previous studies focused on coherent polar codes, which always rely on the strong assumption of ...

Polar codes and polar lattices for independent fading channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we design polar codes and polar lattices for i.i.d. fading channels when the channel state information is only available to the receiver.

SC-Fano Decoding of Polar Codes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
For finite-length polar codes, the standard successive cancellation (SC) decoding has been improved, such as SC-List (SCL), SC-Stack (SCS), and SC-Flip (SCF) decodings.

Reed-Muller Codes Polarize [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE 60th Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS), 2019
Reed-Muller (RM) codes and polar codes are generated by the same matrix $G_m= \bigl[\begin{smallmatrix}1 & 0 \\ 1 & 1 \\ \end{smallmatrix}\bigr]^{\otimes m}$ but using different subset of rows. RM codes select simply rows having largest weights.
