On puncturing strategies for polar codes [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops), 2017
This paper introduces a class of specific puncturing patterns, called symmetric puncturing patterns, which can be characterized and generated from the rows of the generator matrix $G_N$. They are first shown to be non-equivalent, then a low-complexity method to generate symmetric puncturing patterns is proposed, which performs a search tree algorithm ...

Low Complexity List Decoding for Polar Codes with Multiple CRC Codes

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Polar codes are the first family of error correcting codes that provably achieve the capacity of symmetric binary-input discrete memoryless channels with low complexity.

A RM-Polar Codes

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
In this letter we propose a new hybrid code called "RM-Polar" codes. This new codes are constructed by combining the construction of Reed-Muller (RM) code and Polar code. It has much larger minimum Hamming distance than Polar codes, therefore it has much better error performance than Polar codes.

Polar Codes in 5G

open access: yes, 2021
Polar codes is the only channel coding technology that has been theoretically proved to be able to reach the Shannon Capacity with only linear complexity. It has been selected as the coding scheme for the shortcode control channel in the 5G eMBB scenario.

Polar codes and polar lattices for the Heegard-Berger problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Explicit coding schemes are proposed to achieve the rate-distortion function of the Heegard-Berger problem using polar codes. Specifically, a nested polar code construction is employed to achieve the rate-distortion function for doublysymmetric binary ...

Polar-Coded Transmission over 7.8-km Terrestrial Free-Space Optical Links

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Free-space optical (FSO) communications can offer high-capacity transmission owing to the properties of the laser beams. However, performance degradation caused by atmospheric turbulence is an urgent issue. Recently, the application of polar codes, which

Polarization coded aperture

open access: yesOptics Express, 2006
Two examples are presented to illustrate the advantages of polarization coded apertures, in which the incoming light will rotate its polarization at a portion of an aperture. In the first example the depth of field of a diffraction limited lens is increased without sacrificing the light throughput; in the second example the axial focal intensity of a ...

Polar codes : construction and performance improvement

open access: yes, 2012
Recently, Erdal Arikan proposed a method “channel polarization” and then introduced polar codes based on this method. Polar codes are a breakthrough in coding theory because they are the first kind of codes to be proved to achieve capacity for a wide ...

Short Polar Codes for Bluetooth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Denne studien undersøker anvendelsen av Polar-koder i sammenheng med Bluetooth, ved å se på bruken av Polar-koder med korte blokklengder, og sammenlikne den med konvolutionell kode under samme betingelser.

Usage of polar codes for fixed and random length error bursts correction

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики
Error correction during data storage, processing, and transmission allows for ensuring data integrity. Channel coding techniques are used to counteract these errors.
