Polarimetric-anisotropic decomposition of synthetic aperture radar

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
To explore anisotropic information embedded among sub-aperture SAR images, we propose polarimetric sub-aperture singular value decomposition, where polarimetric and anisotropic features are simultaneously decomposed. The decomposed singular values and left singular vectors are equivalent to eigen-analysis-based polarimetric target decomposition, while ...

Polarimetric fusion for synthetic aperture radar target classification

Pattern Recognition, 1997
Abstract The problem of target classification using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) polarizations is considered from a Bayesian decision point of view. This problem is analogous to the multi-sensor problem. We investigate the optimum design of a data fusion structure given that each classifier makes a target classification decision for each ...

An internal calibration scheme for polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar system

2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009
Two important aspects of internal calibration of polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) are discussed, that is, system gain calibration and individual Transmit/Receive Module (TRM) calibration. System gain variation is measured utilizing the internal calibration loop. Dualchannel TRM gain and phase calibration is carried out using Orthogonal Phase

The simulation study on polarimetric synthetic-aperture radar

IEEE 1999 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. IGARSS'99 (Cat. No.99CH36293), 2003
The simulation study on polarimetric synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) is presented in this paper. Compared with conventional SAR simulation methods, the approach uses a model of the target with phase information that is required by the polarization synthesis.

Interferometric polarimetric synthetic aperture radar system

SPIE Proceedings, 2001
Polarimetric radar interferometry is a compound technique that has shown the ability to extract geophysical parameters from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and its usefulness in terrain classification and surface change detection. A three-dimensional image can be constructed by coherence integrating the backscatter data over the measured ...

Spatially Variant Restoration for Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006
A. spatially variant speckle filter is proposed for multi-look polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (POLSAR) imagery. The central idea is that the filtering is applied only to homogeneous areas based on the scattering properties, while for detected edges, lines and point-like textural features, the original complex covariance matrix of these features ...

Filtering of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar images: A sequential approach

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
This paper introduces a novel method for filtering polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (POLSAR) imagery data. Unlike most existing filters, the proposed one is freed from using searching windows but implements the filtering in a sequential fashion. Specifically, we propose to use the inverse Wishart distribution as the conjugate prior model for the ...

Oil platform detection by compact polarimetric synthetic aperture radar

2013 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium - IGARSS, 2013
We present a innovative physically-based approach to detect oil platforms by using compact polarimetric (CP) synthetic aperture data. We utilize two RADARSAT-2 fine quad-polarization SAR images of Gulf of Mexico to estimate the CP covariance matrix. The resulting CP data is used to reconstruct pseudo quad-polarization covariance matrix.

Polarization Calibration Technology for Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar

2021
SAR calibration is used to establish the exact relationship between image intensity and ground backscattering coefficient, which is the key to realize quantitative remote sensing of SAR. In order to fully utilize the information contained in multi-channel multi-polarization data, quantitatively analyzing the correlation between different channels and ...

Polarimetric calibration of circularly polarized synthetic aperture radar data

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2017
Two novel aspects of polarimetric calibration for fully polarimetric imaging radar systems are addressed. First, the radar system model is formulated in the context of two generic transmitter designs, either a single amplifier followed by a high-power switch or a low-power switch followed by two amplifiers.
