A nine-channeled partial Mueller matrix polarimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
© 2017 SPIE. We have recently introduced channeled-partial Mueller matrix polarimeters as a potential design for measuring a limited number of Mueller elements for remote sensing discrimination.

Polarizable Ions at Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2009
A non-perturbative theory is presented which allows to calculate the solvation free energy of polarizable ions near a water-vapor and water-oil interfaces. The theory predicts that larger halogen anions are adsorbed at the interface, while the alkali metal cations are repelled from it.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

The polarizability of organometallic bonds [PDF]

open access: yesComputational and Theoretical Chemistry, 2015
The distributed atomic polarizabilities enable the investigation of the coordination of organic ligands to transition metals giving new insight of some organometallic complexes used in catalytic processes. This approach is useful to appreciate the enormous changes occurring upon complexation to a metal, which is mainly responsible for the augmented ...

Polarizability matters in enantio-selection

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Abstract The prevalence of chirality, or, handedness in biological world is a fundamental phenomenon and a characteristic hallmark of life. Thus, understanding the origin of enantio-selection, i.e., the sense and magnitude of asymmetric induction, has been a long-pursued goal in asymmetric catalysis.

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Polarimetric road ice detection

open access: yes, 2014
This thesis investigated the science behind polarimetric road ice detection systems. Laboratory Mueller matrix measurements of a simulated road under differing surface conditions were collected searching for a discriminatory polarization property.
