Polarization qubit phase gate in driven atomic media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present here an all--optical scheme for the experimental realization of a quantum phase gate. It is based on the polarization degree of freedom of two travelling single photon wave-packets and exploits giant Kerr nonlinearities that can be attained in

Generation of tunable entanglement and violation of a Bell-like inequality between different degrees of freedom of a single photon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate a scheme to generate noncoherent and coherent correlations, i.e., a tunable degree of entanglement, between degrees of freedom of a single photon.

Integrability of One-Degree-of-Freedom Symplectic Maps with Polar Singularities [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2006
In this paper, we treat symplectic difference equations with one degree of freedom. For such cases, we resolve the relation between that the dynamics on the two dimensional phase space is reduced to on one dimensional level sets by a conserved quantity and that the dynamics is integrable, under some assumptions.

Phase Manipulation‐Based Polarization Profile Realization and Hybrid Holograms Using Geometric Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2021
The outstanding ability of optical metasurfaces to tailor light's amplitude, phase, and polarization with a subwavelength resolution has attracted big interest.

Quantum state tomography of photon's polarization and path degrees of freedom

open access: yes, 2023
Quantum state tomography (QST), the process through which the density matrix of a quantum system is characterized from measurements of specific observables, is a fundamental pillar in the fields of quantum information and computation. In this work, we propose a simple QST method to reconstruct the density matrix of two qubits encoded in the ...

Einstein-aether theory: Dynamics of relativistic particles with spin or polarization in a G\"odel-type universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the framework of the Einstein-aether theory we consider a cosmological model, which describes the evolution of the unit dynamic vector field with activated rotational degree of freedom.

Charge polarization calculated with a microscopic model for the fission fragments of U-236 [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
We investigated theoretical methods to estimate the charge polarization of the fission fragments. The method is based on the microscopic mean-field model with the nucleon degree of freedom, and is represented in the three-dimensional coordinate space for ...

Pseudospin in optical and transport properties of graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We show that the pseudospin being an additional degree of freedom for carriers in graphene can be efficiently controlled by means of the electron-electron interactions which, in turn, can be manipulated by changing the substrate. In particular, an out-of-

Microsecond dark-exciton valley polarization memory in two-dimensional heterostructures

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Owing to their valley degree of freedom, atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides show promise for valleytronics. Here, the authors leverage the dark excitons of two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures to demonstrate a microsecond valley ...
