Optical Polarization Division Multiplexing Transmission System Based on Simplified Twin-SSB Modulation [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Optical twin-single sideband (Twin-SSB) modulation, due to the left sideband (LSB) and right sideband (RSB) signal carrying individual data, has become an attractive technique in fiber transmission because it satisfies the demand of the explosive ...

Minimizing Polarization Multiplexing Angle in Polarization-Division-Multiplexed System

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
The minimization of polarization multiplexing angle in a polarization-division-multiplexed (PDM) transmission system is explored. An effective polarization demultiplexing algorithm based on Stokes space is proposed to realize the demultiplexing of two ...

Dual Polarization Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission [PDF]

open access: greenIEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2018
We experimentally demonstrate dual-polarization nonlinear frequency division multiplexing (NFDM) using the continuous spectrum in 1680 km of normal dispersion fiber, at the net data rate of 25.6 Gb/s. NFDM exhibits a gain of 0.4 dB in $Q$ -factor and 1 dB in total launch power when compared with burst mode OFDM.

All-Optical Signal Regeneration in Polarization-Division-Multiplexing Systems

open access: greenIEEE Photonics Journal, 2011
Schemes of all-optical regeneration in polarization-division-multiplexing (PDM) systems are proposed and demonstrated with 2 × 10-Gb/s return-to-zero on-off-keying (RZ-OOK) transmission. Regeneration is achieved based on self-phase-modulation (SPM)

Automatic optical polarization demultiplexing for polarization division multiplexed signals

open access: goldOptics Express, 2009
We propose a new automatic optical polarization demultiplexing scheme for polarization division multiplexed (PDM) signals, which uses the radio frequency (RF) power from a low frequency RF power detector as a control signal. This scheme is based on the intrinsic characteristics of PDM signals and does not need to add a special signal at a PDM ...

Polarimetric current sensor based on polarization division multiplexing detection

open access: goldOptics Express, 2014
A polarimetric current sensor based on polarization division multiplexing (PDM) detection is proposed. The novel sensor head with a heat insulation cavity only induces a small level of birefringence. Comparing with polarization diversity (PD) detection, the sensitivity of PDM detection is the double of PD detection.

Polarization Division Multiplexing CV-QKD with Pilot-Aided Polarization-State Sensing

open access: yesMathematics
Continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) with local local oscillator (LLO) is well-studied for its security and simplicity, but enhancing performance and interference resistance remains challenging.
