Optical Performance Monitoring for Intra-LP-Mode Dispersion in Weakly-Coupled Mode-Division Multiplexed Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
Weakly-coupled mode-division multiplexing (MDM) technique based on linearly-polarized (LP) modes in ultralow-modal-crosstalk few-mode fiber (FMF) has been considered as a promising candidate for capacity enhancement of next-generation optical ...

Сompensator of polarization mode dispersion based on spiral-wound single-mode fiber [PDF]

open access: yesТехнологія та конструювання в електронній апаратурі, 2013
A polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensator for single-mode optical fibre has been designed. Its operation principle is based on the use of artificial difference of phase velocities of the basic ordinary and extraordinary waves in spiral-wound fibre,

Chromatic Dispersion Measurements of Single-Mode Fibers, Polarization-Maintaining Fibers, and Few-Mode Fibers Using a Frequency Domain Method

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Chromatic dispersion is an important fiber attribute affecting transmission performance over optical fibers. Various chromatic dispersion measurement methods have been developed primarily for single-mode fibers.

INFLUENCE OF POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION ON THE EFFECT OF CROSS-PHASE MODULATION IN INTENSITY MODULATION-DIRECT DETECTION WDM TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

open access: yesInternational Islamic University Malaysia Engineering Journal, 2010
Cross-phase modulation (XPM) changes the state-of-polarization (SOP) of the channels through nonlinear polarization rotation and induces nonlinear time dependent phase shift for polarization components that leads to amplitude modulation of the ...

Fiber guided mode dispersion spectroscopy via control of spatial dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Photonics
The development of next-generation optical fiber grating devices is strongly influenced by intricate grating design, which must effectively capture guided mode dispersion.

The characterization of step index single mode silica fiber for long haul signal communication

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2005
The optical properties of single mode fibers, which are drawn from the silica preform made by MCVD technique, have been studied. The properties such as cutoff wavelength, chromatic dispersion, and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) were studied for 2.3 ...

Extreme outages caused by polarization mode dispersion [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2003
We study the dependence on fiber birefringence of the bit-error rate (BER) caused by amplifier noise in a linear optical fiber telecommunication system. We show that the probability-distribution function of the BER obtained by averaging over many realizations of birefringent disorder has an extended tail that corresponds to anomalously large values of ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Three stage polarization mode dispersion compensator capable of compensating second order polarization mode dispersion

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2002
The impacts of polarization\|dependent dispersion on systems are investigated brefly, based on which we propose a threestage higherorder polarization mode dispersion(PMD) compensation scheme. Theoretical analysis shows that it is capable of compensating polarization\|dependent dispersion and principal states of polarization rotation rate at the same ...
