Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Role of Van Hove singularities and effective mass anisotropy in polarization-resolved high harmonic spectroscopy of silicon

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2022
High harmonic generation in solids has been intensively studied for compact extreme ultraviolet light sources and for understanding of the inner workings of solids.

Spin angular momentum of Gaussian beams with several polarization singularities

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2023
We study a paraxial vector Gaussian beam with several polarization singularities located on a circle. Such a beam is superposition of a cylindrically polarized Laguerre-Gaussian beam and a linearly polarized Gaussian beam.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Hidden singularities in spontaneously polarized molecular solids

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2023
Films of dipolar molecules formed by physical vapor deposition are, in general, spontaneously polarized, with implications ranging from electron transfer in molecular optoelectronic devices to the properties of astrochemical ices in the interstellar medium.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Singular Electromagnetics: From Phase Singularities to Optical Skyrmions and Beyond

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research
Singular electromagnetics, also known as singular optics in the visible spectrum, is a branch of modern electromagnetics/optics that studies the solutions with nontrivial topological features to Maxwell's equations under different boundary conditions ...

Three-dimensional structure of polarization singularities of a light field near a dielectric spherical nanoparticle.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
We numerically study the structure of polarization singularity lines in a near-field of the sub-wavelength dielectric particle when it is irradiated by a monochromatic elliptically polarized plane wave. For the various values of the ellipticity degree of

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Parametrically driving a quantum oscillator into exceptionality

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The mathematical objects employed in physical theories do not always behave well. Einstein’s theory of space and time allows for spacetime singularities and Van Hove singularities arise in condensed matter physics, while intensity, phase and polarization
