New Physics and the Landau Pole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In scalar field theories the Landau pole is an ultraviolet singularity in the running coupling constant that indicates a mass scale at which the theory breaks down and new physics must intervene.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Bilateral elastofibroma dorsi: typical CT and MRI features

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2014
An asymptomatic 57-year-old patient with a history of COPD was referred for a routine CT-scan of the chest. In addition to the changes caused by COPD, a bilateral soft-tissue lesion was observed deep to the inferior pole of both scapulas, just over the ...

Moment Pole Figures in Residual Stress Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesTexture, Stress, and Microstructure, 1996
The basic formulas (Reuss′s approximation) for residual stress analysis are given in a revised form. All ODF‐burdened information reduces to five “moment pole figures” simply to, calculate using modern direct algorithms. The corresponding harmonic expressions are also more compact than other formulas known from literature.

Hadronic B Decays to Charmed Baryons

open access: yes, 2002
We study exclusive B decays to final states containing a charmed baryon within the pole model framework. Since the strong coupling for $\Lambda_b\bar B N$ is larger than that for $\Sigma_b \bar BN$, the two-body charmful decay $B^-\to\Sigma_c^0\bar p ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Comparison of Ultrasonic Pole Figures Based Upon Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation Method With Pole Figures Based Upon FEPM.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 2001
The ultrasonic wave velocities in a polycrystalline aggregate are sensitively influenced by texture changes due to plastic deformation, and their relationship was systematically analyzed by Sayers. According to Sayers's proposed model, it is possible to construct ultrasonic pole figures via the crystallite orientation distribution function (CODF ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.
