An Analytical Discussion of the Construction of Pole Figures

Journal of Applied Physics, 1948
The construction of pole figures of crystal orientation data obtained by means of x-rays can be made quickly and accurately if the angular relationships between planes or ``poles'' are known and if all of the data from a diffraction pattern are used.

The Analysis of Quantitative Pole-Figure Data

Journal of Applied Physics, 1954
An analysis of isolated concentrations of poles in a pole-figure plot has been made in terms of a normal bivariate frequency distribution. A definition of pole density is given, and absolute units for measuring pole density are introduced. Simple procedures for determining the standard deviation of the pole-density distribution and for calculating the ...

On the reproducibility of the orientation distribution function of texture samples from pole figures (I). Relationship between the odf and pole figures

Kristall und Technik, 1980
AbstractThe explicit relationship between the orientation distribution function and the pole figures measured by means of diffraction experiments is derived and discussed. It is shown that these pole figures have a higher symmetry than the ODF, i.e. that it is impossible to reproduce unambiguously the ODF from pole figure datas only.
