Pole Figure Analysis of Graphite Material

Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2022
Graphite is a versatile material which is also used in various load bearing applications such as thrust bearings and dies for mechanical pressing such as hot pressing. Natural graphite has anisotropic layered structure which reduces its (compressive) strength in axes which are not parallel to c-axis.

Automatic pole figure evaluation

Journal of Applied Crystallography, 1969
A commercial pole figure goniometer (Philips) is operated by a process control computer (IBM 1800) with a digital voltmeter to digitize the ratemeter output. The pole density data are stored on disk, and, after processing, are recorded in the pole figure by a plotter attached to the computer.

An automatic pole figure recorder

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1970
The present device can be used as an accessory to any Schulz x-ray goniometer. It is connected to the output of the electronic integrator so that the texture diagram normally obtained with the original equipment remains available. The pole figure is thus obtained in addition, without delay, by drawing a spiral with pens of different colours (10 maximum)

Investigation of Measured Pole Figures Errors

Materials Science Forum, 2005
The objective of the present work is to study of errors on measured pole figures of hexagonal materials. We used neutron time-of-flight (TOF) technique for texture measurements and obtained spectra for estimating of error values of measured pole figures.

Pole Figure Integrator

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1969
A device, applicable to samples with fiber texture, is used on a diffractometer to average the diffracted x-ray intensities representing values on a pole figure. In the process, the fiber axis is rotated end-over-end continuously at a constant rate through an angle φ which is also the colatitude coordinate of the pole figure.

Automatic Pole Figure Recorder

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1954
A device has been developed for the direct recording in stereographic projections of pole figure data as they are supplied from a Geiger counter x-ray diffraction apparatus. The specimen is rotated systematically in a suitable goniometer about two axes in synchronism with movements of the chart and printer on the recorder. When the diffracted intensity

Instrumentation for RHEED Pole Figure

2013
In this chapter, we describe the major reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) hardware components: a vacuum system, an electron gun, a sample manipulator, a step motor, a phosphor screen, and a charge-coupled device camera. Most molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) laboratories with in situ RHEED characterization capability are equipped with this ...

Automatic Pole Figure Plotter

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1965
A simple recording apparatus has been developed which automatically plots preferred orientation information obtained by x-ray diffraction in pole figure from. It is used with spiral scanning, counter tube, preferred orientation x-ray goniometers. The apparatus consists of an X-Y recorder, a spiral time base signal generator, and an encoder which ...

Spurious Areas in Pole Figures

Journal of Applied Physics, 1954
Spurious maxima are frequently observed in pole figures determined by x-ray diffraction techniques employing the Geiger-counter spectrogoniometer. Their origin must be fully understood in order to avoid misleading interpretations of the pole-figure data.

Averaging Techniques and Ultrasonic Pole Figures

1988
There is considerable interest in the evaluation of texture via ultrasonic measurements because of the advantages when compared to evaluation by diffraction techniques. First, ultrasonic measurements are much more rapid and have the potential of being used concurrently while processing.
