Compact PolInSAR for vegetation characterisation
2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2007In this paper, we analyse the potential associated with a compact polarimetry (CP) P band spaceborne SAR system. Indeed, this architecture allows polarimetric acquisition without the usual reduction in swath. The CP data is shown to be almost equivalent to the full polarimetric data over extended targets, and the PolInSAR analysis can be performed ...

Multibaseline POLInSAR coherence modelling and optimization
2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2007This paper analyzes a POLInSAR coherence model with respect to polarization diversity. The coherence constituents are identified and examined. Extending POLInSAR to multiple baselines, two general multibaseline coherence optimization methods are introduced.

UAVSAR PolInSAR and tomographic experiments in Germany
2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016The NASA/JPL UAVSAR system was deployed to Europe in the May-June 2015 to collect data in support of experiments in Iceland, Norway and Germany. The deployment in Germany was focused on PolInSAR and tomographic data collections at the Traunstein Forest and in the Munich urban area. In addition data were collected at Kaufbeuren, the DLR calibration site,

Internal and external calibration of POLINSAR
Proceedings of 2011 IEEE CIE International Conference on Radar, 2011Polarimetric SAR interferometry (POLINSAR) techniques have been studied as hot research topics in the area of SAR remote sensing in recent years. At present, many POLINSAR systems were developed, and the first POLINSAR prototype in China is also developed by 38th Research Institute of CETC.

The Optimum Baseline Analysis for Polinsar Forest Height Mapping
2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021The interferometric vertical wavenumber (or baseline) has a direct impact on PolinSAR forest height mapping, which must be selected appropriately to acquire optimum inversion performance. In this paper, the key parameters influencing the height estimation precision are considered to simplify the system performance analysis.

On Polinsar System Requirements for Forest Height Mapping
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018Polarimetric interferometric SAR (PolinSAR) data are contaminated by cross-talk and channel imbalance. To ensure the successful estimation of forest heights from forthcoming PolinSAR campaigns, a critical study on the polarimetric system requirements of PolinSAR for forest height mapping must be carried out.

Data classification based on PolInSAR coherence shapes
Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2005. IGARSS '05., 2005The combination of SAR polarimetry and SAR interferometry introduced many new research and application fields. Mostly they go into the direction of physical parameter in- version and media characterization and classification. The major parameter which is computed from observable of polarimetric interferometric SAR (PolInSAR) is the complex coherence ...

Advances in polinsar retrieval algorithms of agricultural crops
Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2005. IGARSS '05., 2005Polarimetric SAR Interferometry has been recently applied to the retrieval of parameters from agricultural crops. The estimation procedure is based on the assumption of the so- called Oriented Volume over Ground model for the scene. Unfor- tunately, this model leads to a nonlinear formulation that must be inverted.

Optimised power changes detector for PolInSAR applications
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012The use of polarimetric and interferometric SAR (Pol-InSAR) has been demonstrated to bring significant advantages for several remote sensing applications. Sometimes, the hypothesis that the scattering mechanisms (SM) do not suffer large changes in the two acquisitions is performed (ESM).

An analysis of coherence optimization methods in PolInSAR
2007 1st Asian and Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, 2007The combination of SAR polarimetry and SAR interferometry introduced many new research and application fields. The major parameter which is computed from observable of polarimetric interferometric SAR (PolInSAR) is the complex coherence. But coherences are easily influenced by many factors, like temporal or spatial baseline, or noise. In this paper, we
