Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Beginning of stability theory for Polish spaces [PDF]

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Mathematics, 2016
We consider stability theory for Polish spaces and more generally for definable structures (say, with elements of a set of reals). We clarify by proving some equivalent conditions for $\aleph_0$-stability. We succeed to prove existence of indiscernibles under reasonable conditions; this gives strong evidence that such a theory exists.

Polish dendrites & Polish groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A dendrite is a continuum (i.e. a compact connected metrizable space) that is locally connected and such that any two points are joined by a unique arc. T. Wazewski introduced a universal dendrite in which any other dendrite can embedded.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Ion-acoustic solitary waves and spectrally uniform scattering cross section enhancements [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2010
Spectra measured by incoherent scatter radars are formed predominantly by scattering of the incident signal off ion-acoustic and Langmuir waves in the ionosphere.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Poland’s Regional Policy and Disparities in the Polish Space

open access: yesStudia Regionalne i Lokalne, 2006
The paper discusses regional disparities in Poland in their many dimensions and aspects economic, social and political. Individual phenomena basically have a similar spatial representation, which can be seen as a corroboration of the well-known thesis on

Simulations of a kinetic plasma instability in streamers of transient luminous events

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics
We have supplemented the Particle-In-Cell code SMILEI with the module for collisions between charged and neutral particles. The code has been evaluated and used for the examination of the nonlinear stability and dynamics of plasma in conditions of ...

Space 4.0 – a common, democratic European space [PDF]

open access: yes
Regardless of differences in political views on the scope and depth of the European integration, there are so many areas of possible and very beneficial integration that it is difficult to include them all in the area of controversy.
