Antimicrobial action of .EPSILON.-poly-L-lysine.

open access: yesThe Journal of Antibiotics, 1984
The antimicrobial spectrum of epsilon-poly-L-lysine (n = 25-30, epsilon-PL) was investigated by comparison with alpha-poly-L-lysine (n = 50, alpha-PL). epsilon-PL showed antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria at concentrations of 1-8 micrograms/ml. alpha-PL was less active than epsilon-PL.

Development of liver-specific ribavirin-loaded nanoparticles with reduced cytotoxicity

open access: yesCogent Medicine, 2017
Ribavirin is widely used in several types of combination chemotherapy for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C. In order to deliver ribavirin to the liver and reduce its side effects, we previously prepared ribavirin monophosphate (RMP)-loaded ...

Improved biocompatibility and efficient labeling of neural stem cells with poly(L-lysine)-coated maghemite nanoparticles

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2016
Background: Cell tracking is a powerful tool to understand cellular migration, dynamics, homing and function of stem cell transplants. Nanoparticles represent possible stem cell tracers, but they differ in cellular uptake and side effects.

In vivo toxicity and biodistribution of intraperitoneal and intravenous poly-l-lysine and poly-l-lysine/poly-l-glutamate in rats

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine, 2014
The combination of two differently charged polypeptides, poly-L-lysine (PL) and poly-L-glutamate (PG), has shown excellent postsurgical antiadhesive properties. However, the high molecular, positively charged PL is toxic in high doses, proposed as lysis of red blood cells.

Spectral study of interaction between poly(l-lysine)–poly(ethylene glycol)–poly(l-lysine) and nucleic acids

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine, 2011
Polymer-DNA interactions have attracted considerable interests due to their important application in DNA transfection and cellular drug delivery technologies. In this work, a new detection assay for DNA is proposed with a tri-block copolymer poly(L-lysine)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(L-lysine) by resonance light scattering technique with the linear ...
