Preparação e caracterização de membranas poliméricas a partir da blenda polisulfona/poliuretano Preparation and characterization of polymeric membranes from blended polysulfone/polyurethane

Comparing two autologous bone grafting techniques to treat clavicular midshaft atrophic nonunion: a retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology
Background Open reduction, superior plate (SP) fixation, and autologous cancellous granular bone grafting (ACGBG) are common strategies for treating clavicular midshaft atrophic nonunion (CMAN).

Stein's method on the second Wiener chaos : 2-Wasserstein distance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In the first part of the paper we use a new Fourier technique to obtain a Stein characterizations for random variables in the second Wiener chaos. We provide the connection between this result and similar conclusions that can be derived using Malliavin ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Toolpath strategies and management to optimize energy consumption on 3-axis CNC milling machine

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
CNC milling machine is a production machine which widely used to manufacture many kinds of products. In the process of milling machining, the time needed to produce a component must be as minimum as possible to minimize the costs and its impacts on the ...

In situ analysis of solvent/nonsolvent exchange and phase separation processes during the membrane formation of polylactides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Membrane formation of polylactides has been studied using in situ analysis techniques. An experimental method based on the use of dark ground optics and reflected light illumination is used to monitor the mass transfer and phase separation dynamics ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Argulus Ambystoma, a New Species Parasitic on the Salamander Ambystoma Dumerilii from Mexico (Crustacea: Branchiura: Argulidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Author Institution: Department of Zoology, Southern Illinois UniversityA new species of Argulus is described based on 18 specimens taken from the salamander (achoque or ajolote) Ambystoma dumerilii Duges, collected in Lake Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico ...

Evaluation of Stem-Loop Reverse Transcription and Poly-A Tail Extension in MicroRNA Analysis of Body Fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
MicroRNA has been demonstrated to be a viable tool for body fluid identification purposes in forensic casework. Stem-loop reverse transcription (slRT) is regularly used for cDNA synthesis from mature miRNA, along with poly-A tail extension.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
