RNA polyadenylation sites on the genomes of microorganisms, animals, and plants. [PDF]
Pre-messenger RNA (mRNA) 3'-end cleavage and subsequent polyadenylation strongly regulate gene expression. In comparison with the upstream or downstream motifs, relatively little is known about the feature differences of polyadenylation [poly(A)] sites ...

Uridine composition of the poly-U/UC tract of HCV RNA defines non-self recognition by RIG-I. [PDF]
Viral infection of mammalian cells triggers the innate immune response through non-self recognition of pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) in viral nucleic acid.

Biophysical characterization of the strong stabilization of the RNA triplex poly(U)•poly(A)*poly(U) by 9-O-(ω-amino) alkyl ether berberine analogs. [PDF]
Binding of two 9-O-(ω-amino) alkyl ether berberine analogs BC1 and BC2 to the RNA triplex poly(U)(•)poly(A)(*)poly(U) was studied by various biophysical techniques.Berberine analogs bind to the RNA triplex non-cooperatively.

Thermal Properties of Mixture of Poly A and Poly U [PDF]
The thermal properties of Poly(A+U) formed by an equimolar mixture of Poly A and Poly U in aqueous solutions of various concentrations of NaCl were studied calorimetrically. First, the measurements using the modified DSC were carried out and the transition enthalpy (ΔHm) was estimated for Poly(A+U) in the solutions of various salt concentrations.

Interaction of magnesium ions with poly A and poly U [PDF]
AbstractThe binding of Mg++ to poly A and poly U has been measured quantitatively by using the metallochromic indicator calmagite. The method is described in detail. It is shown that there is electrostatic interaction between the binding sites, viz., the phosphate groups, and the intrinsic association constant, for the specific binding can be ...

Regulation of coronaviral poly(A) tail length during infection. [PDF]
The positive-strand coronavirus genome of ~30 kilobase in length and subgenomic (sg) mRNAs of shorter lengths, are 5' and 3'-co-terminal by virtue of a common 5'-capped leader and a common 3'-polyadenylated untranslated region.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP1) is a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for cancers that can catalyze the poly-ADP-ribosylation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) onto the acceptor proteins to form long poly(ADP-ribose) (PAR ...

A family of poly(U) polymerases [PDF]
The GLD-2 family of poly(A) polymerases add successive AMP monomers to the 3′ end of specific RNAs, forming a poly(A) tail. Here, we identify a new group of GLD-2-related nucleotidyl transferases from Arabidopsis, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Caenorhabditis elegans, and humans. Like GLD-2, these enzymes are template independent and add nucleotides to the
