A role for glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase in the development of thermotolerance in Xenopus laevis embryos [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
During heat shock, Xenopus laevis embryos exhibit an increase in the rate of accumulation of lactate and a loss of ATP relative to non-heat- shocked control embryos.

Rheology of Titania Pigment Slurry

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2012
The influence of polymeric dispersants containing different functional groups on the suspension behaviour of titania pigment slurry was investigated. The dispersants chosen were polyacrylic acid and modified polyacrylamides including homo and copolymers ...

Enhanced Healing and Antimicrobial Efficacy of Chitosan-g-Polyacrylamide in a Rat Model of Gingival Ulcers

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Patients in dental hospitals often experience oral ulcerative lesions, which lead to pain and affect the patient's quality of life. At present, the goal of treating oral ulcerative lesions with drugs is to reduce inflammation and promote ulcer healing ...

Abscisic acid-polyacrylamide (ABA-PAM) treatment enhances forage grass growth and soil microbial diversity under drought stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Drought restricts the growth of alpine grassland vegetation. This study aimed to explore a new technical system to improve the drought resistance of forage grass. Qinghai cold-land Poa pratensis seedlings were used in the drought stress experiment.

Intron‐oriented HTLV‐1 integration in an adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma cell line sustains expression of intact ift81 mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In the adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) cell line ED, the human T‐cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) provirus was integrated into the intron of the ift81 gene in the antisense orientation. Despite this integration, both the intact ift81 and the viral oncogene hbz were simultaneously expressed, likely due to the functional insufficiency of viral ...

Aβ42 promotes the aggregation of α‐synuclein splice isoforms via heterogeneous nucleation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aggregation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and α‐synuclein (αSyn) is associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This study reveals that Aβ aggregates serve as potent nucleation sites for the aggregation of αSyn and its splice isoforms, shedding light on the intricate interplay between these two pathogenic proteins.

Composite Contrast Enhancement of Hydrogel-Based Implants for Photon-Counting Computed Tomography Studies

open access: yesGels
Hydrogels have a wide range of medical applications, including use within implantable systems. However, when used in implants, their visibility under conventional medical imaging techniques is limited, creating safety risks for patients.
