Further Promoting Form II‐To‐Form I Phase Transition in Low‐Molecular‐Weight Polybutene‐1 by Addition of Heating/Cooling Cycles Into Nucleation Stage of Form I

Journal of Polymer Science
Despite employing a two‐step annealing method, Form II to Form I phase transitions in some low‐molecular‐weight polybutene‐1 (LMWPB‐1) samples are still slow.

Competitive Behavior of Isotactic Polybutene-1 Polymorphs in Electrospun Membranes and Solution Cast Films via Cold Crystallization

Journal of macromolecular science. Physics, 2022
Isotactic polybutene-1 (iPB-1) generally crystallizes into metastable form II upon non-isothermal crystallization from the melt. The inevitable and prolonged transition of this form to form I is a drawback of numerous iPB-1 applications.

Solution history effects in polybutene-1

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part B, 1984
Abstract The crystal structure and helical conformation of polybutene-1 crystallized from dilute solution is shown to be a function of the crystal structure before dissolution, the maximum temperature in solution attained before cooling to the crystallization temperature, and the time at that maximum temperature.

High pressure dilatometry on polybutene-1

Colloid and Polymer Science, 1983
High pressure dilatometry is used to study the melting processes and the melt of isotactic polybutene-1. Evaluating a great number of isobaricV(T)-curves determined in the range of a few hundred bar the pressure dependence of the melting temperature is accurately determined for modifications I and II.

Radiation Chemistry of Polybutene-1

1996
Molecular weight changes and gel content measurements of moderately isotactic polybutene-1 following gamma irradiation at ambient temperature, show that both scission and crosslinking occur with G values of 3.2 and 1.0 respectively. 13C NMR shows there is also a loss of stereoregularity.

Deformation of polybutene-1 crystal aggregates

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part B, 1970
Abstract The plastic deformation of polybutene-1 crystals on a uniaxially drawn substrate has been studied using an electron microscope. Crystals with hexagonal morphology and crystal structure, with orthorhombic structure and with square morphology were investigated.

In situ Raman scattering investigation of crystal phase transition in isotactic polybutene-1

CrysteEngComm
iPB-1, known as golden plastic, exhibits such remarkable physical and mechanical properties as superior creep and stress resistance, high toughness stiffness, and tear strength, surpassing PE and PP.

Dramatically Accelerating II-I Crystal Phase Transition of Polybutene‑1 by in Situ Incorporation of H-Shape Long-Chain-Branching Structures.

Macromolecular rapid communications
This communication reports an effective strategy helping address the long-troubling melt processing issue of isotactic polybutene-1 (i-PB) caused by its extremely slow II-I crystal phase transition.

Growth morphology of isotactic polybutene-1

European Polymer Journal, 1973
Abstract Isotactic polybutene-1 has been crystallized from solution by the film formation method. Well-defined single crystals have been grown from solutions of the polymer in amyl acetate and its mixtures with n-butanol in all the three modifications by varying the concentration and crystallization temperature.

Form II to form I transition in solution-crystallized isotactic polybutene-1.

Soft Matter
Different polymer chains in a solution or melt have different conformations with corresponding entropy at each moment, which would be confined after crystallization.
